what does that have to do with fur ?
saying the sky is blue would make an equally pointless non-argument

Read her entire sentence, not just the first half.
The O.P. is telling people not to shop at Harrods because they sell fur.
Paintelady's reply deals with the double-standard in our society where certain people get all worked up over farmed critters but not the blood-stained diamonds or other equally "evil" goods being sold in the next counter.
Valid point.
TY.
That was exactly my point.
The diamond industry in THE worst offender IMHO, but people love their shiny rocks so...
I also don't judge people who wear diamonds because it is not like one can tell how a diamond was obtained. No jeweler will say "Yeah sure we sell conflict diamonds that fund civil wars lead to damage of the land, its people and the animals there, not to mention the dangerous working conditions!".
I don't even think the jewelers really know or care to know the history of each diamond they get.
At least working conditions for miners are getting better...

Who needs to buy blood diamonds anyway? You can get a synthetic diamond (yes, that's right, a diamond - not cubic zirconia, not moissanite) that's virtually flawless and comes in several colors for about $99 per carat. In fact, you can buy a three or five carat synthetic diamond engagement ring for about the same price that a normal diamond ring would cost you. I saw one place online that sell them called Diamond Nexus. In fact, you probably pay more for the gold or platinum ring setting and labor than the diamond itself.

Natural zircons are nice too, but many will always say there is more "fire" in a natural diamond and many want the hardness of real diamond to prevent wear and tear over time.
But yeah... the fakes are well done these days and worth looking into. |

I've never been to London but it seems pretty iconic. A products/brand is all about perception so they might sell crappy stuff but because it is in Harrods people might go gaga over it cause Harrods has a perception of luxury I guess. Everyone sells bags, pens, mugs etc with their name on it...I agree total nonsense..even though for them it gets their name out there, lol!
