You gotta point there.

So maybe she has a deformity that affects her whale chord or that snouty thing the sound comes out of. Po thang! Its a wonder she knows how to survive out there all alone and its a miracle some whale hunter hasn't terminated her. Maybe they could fix her up with some device that maximizes her sound or mimics previously recorded whale sounds so that she at least could say hello.

I think a blind whale could survive. In a group other whales could guide it to food. Being a mammal, I'm sure that just as in man, other senses would compensate for the lack of sight.
