Seventeen Magazine Vows to Ban PHOTOSHOP

http://edition.cnn.com/20...?hpt=hp_t3

Well.....

I think ultimately fashion type magazines sell a 'fantasy'---this is why they choose supermodels afterall, but I do think once you've gotten so ridiculous that Ralph Lauren was placing adds of women who were not only skinny, but inhumanly skinny in their jeans commercials, that the photoshop 'fantasy' becomes just plain silly.

I don't think this stems anorexia and female body-image issues much, but I do think at least it's more honest.

Why is it old queens like Madonna or Prince can't be celebrated for the wrinkles (or in Prince's case, micro-dermal divets) on their face?

It should be interesting if this is just the selling gimick I think it is, or if a small part of the media is becoming more....erm... altruistic?

Of course they can say this... They only shoot teen models... Who have smooth skin and perky tits.. Lemme see them photograph a teen in the throes of a full puberty attack, zits, braces, akward looking bodies, etc.. THEN i will give them praise... Until then.. fart

~~~~~ Oh that voice...incredible....there should be a musical instrument called George Michael... ~~~~~
^ yep. and in addition to the puberty issue i'd love it if seventeen took this concept a bit farther and released a "Future You!" issue wherein the models are all at least 70 years of age.
They're just trying to cash in on the new wave of fandom for the show "girls" and it's incredibly successful young female lead actress/director/writer who looks like she's 14.
It should be banned. It's false advertising.
I'm firmly planted in denial
