Quentin Tarantino's new film, Django Unchained!

This time, the slaves fight back:

I kinda wish it was Denzel instead of Jamie Foxx. You can't have everything, but it does look pretty damned good. Whitey finally gets his. lol

All you others say Hell Yea!! woot!

How is "Django" pronounced anyways?
I keep saying "deh-jango".....
(To be honest actually, I keep pronouncing the whole movie title as "deh-jango unchanged", but I think that's because whenever the letters "j" & "g" are that close together, they cause me to add that extra "g" in the pronuctiation of "unchained"..... it's the main reason "y" I hate the "j" and "g" combo in the middle of a word so much... I mean, there are other reasons why I hate that specific combo to the degree that I do, but that's the main one.... and I don't feel as though this is the time nor the place to get into the other reasons, but believe me, there are alot......).

I love T's movies. People always cry out about the violence in his movies. But it just is a part of life people wish not to know about. To ignore it is to allow it to propagate.

I hope this won't fly to the P&R graveyard, but I read this article today and it kinda put things in perspective as far as films with black leading stars: http://blogs.indiewire.co...3138165f92

OK, I've seen:

Pulp Fiction

Bits of Kill Bill 2

Bits of Resevoir Dogs

and Inglorious Bastards.

Can someone please explain why this director is considered so great? lol

Jackie Brown should be on your to-watch list, that was his best(and most underrated) IMO.

OK, I'll give it a shot.

Please tell me I don't have to watch severed heads, scalps, exploding faces, etc. in it though.

Lawd, after watching one of his films I always get queezy.

NOBODY is dirty.

Not in any of the behind the scenes pics that have been released.

Not in any of the clips released to entertainment tv shows.

Not in the trailer.

NOBODY is dirty.

The street is muddy: no dirt.

They're clearly riding horses around: no dirt.

They're in the snow, which is wet: no dirt.

And I'm not just talking about their clothes. Their shoes are SPOTLESS!

NOBODY is dirty.

Its bugging me. A lot.

Reservoir Dogs: Made for nothing. Very original at the time - the mystery/crime caper with a twist ending told in near real time. He took a ton of old movie conventions and brought them all into modern times with one film. Been copied so much since that people forget it came first. He very confidently directed some heavy hitters to some great performances in this one. All of them spoke very highly of him afterwards (as has been the case with pretty much everyone he's worked with).

True Romance: In my opinion, the second best thing he's ever written. Pulp Fiction is still better.

Pulp Fiction: Extremely original and unique at the time of it's release. It was an experience unlike anything you'd seen before. Highly stylized characters and dialogue. Story told out of sequence, but all arcs still reach conclusions that were rewarding, yet very unexpected. Been copied about a thousand times more than Reservoir Dogs. So much so that it's lost a lot of it's initial impact. The way the dialogue was written and delivered - that cool, unreal vibe, but still clearly grounded in our reality - has actually become movie norm. It was done that way here first.

Jackie Brown: .... I don't get it. Dude totally lost me here. I don't know why people think it's so great, although I'm fully aware that a lot of people do. For me it's a total snooze fest. Filled with characters that I can't believe and I had no problem doing the same thing with his previous stuff. To me this was QT doing his homage to a genre from the past thing and failing, miserably. I've watched this at least five times and I just can't get into it.

Kill Bills: No. Fail. Full stop. I can't believe they're making a third one.

Grindhouse/Death Proof: Oh please do fuck off now.

Inglorious Basterds: Ahhhh yes! That's the QT I remember. A very positive step in the right direction for me with this one. And if you remove his usual stylized dialogue and quirky character crutches it's actually the straightest thing he's done. Some people didn't like the surreal re-writing of history aspect, but it totally worked for me.

Django Unchained: I'm not sold yet. I usually have to wait until I've seen his movies a couple times before I can decide.

Nope, this is the most realistic film he made in contrast with the rest of his filmography.

Beside, Pam Grier & Sam L. Jackson had a dynamic chemistry.

My son says the jury still out. He's a huge Tarintino fan, loves Jackie Brown, Kill Bill, Death Proof, so on and so forth. Well, I like Tarintino too, I'm curious.

Because of his extreme, unconventional imagery, sense of humour and because many of his movies suggest a certain questioning our own human race and its capabilities. "Pulp Fiction" and "Inglourious Basterds" are absolute masterpieces.
