Anyone into Game of Thrones?

I didn't watch it last year, but caught up on Season 1 right before Season 2 started.

I really like the show. It's not appointment tv for me like True Blood is, but last night's season finale was GREAT and the episode last week was GREAT, so I'll be missing it (after True Blood runs through Season 5).

One of my coworkers wants me to read the book series the show is based on, "Songs of Fire and Ice." I've bought the series but haven't read it yet.

I've heard Season 3 will be based on Book 3, but because Book 3 is pretty long, it will be divided into two seasons.

Did anyone stop watching after the season finale from Season 1?

I'm firmly planted in denial

I like the show but I didn't really enjoy this weeks that much. After last weeks, which was arguably the best episode of the whole show so far, this weeks seemed a little too busy and all over the place. There was too much going on for me to feel any real connection to any part of each particular storyline.

For me, this season's Mad Men has far outdone Game of Thrones. Sunday's episode was very moving. I won't spoil it for those of you who haven't seen it yet.

I like this show a lot. I don't want to read the books though because I like not knowing what's going to happen.

Apparently, it's like True Blood to some degree that it does follow the books but throws in surprised.

True Blood has pretty much left the books completely. It is very loosely based now.

I've heard GoT is much closer to the books.

Mad Men is AWESOME, but you have to have a lot of patience watching it. It's extremely subtle.

Tyrion Lannister is one of the better characters on TV. Right up there with Mad Men's Don Draper.

Last week's episode was INSANELY good!

I really liked this week's episode. It was all over the place, but they had a lot of ground to cover and I thought they did so well.

I knew Tyrion was going to be in trouble because of how well he did and how sniveling Joffery was, but damn they totally threw Tyrion under the carriage!!

Since it was the season finale, I think the sprawling aspect was necessary. Every character had to had their story wrapped up to let you know what to look for next season. Like last season's finale, it ended with a fantastic supernatural bang.

Tyrion went from running the kingdom to being a nobody again in one week. And old man Pycelle couldn't help but rub his nose in it.

I love it. Shame that season 2 is done now. Can't wait for the third season.

Excellent show.

Probably gonna buy this on dvd. Something I hardly ever do.

Last dvd box I bought was the Soprano's boxset and that was little over a

year ago.

But I'm strongly contemplating getting Game Of Thrones season 1 and 2.

Loved this season, though I think they killed off Renly way too early and where is that smoke demon anyway??? Just roaming Westeroo?

yeah that's what i was thinking. why didn't the smoke demon assist in the battle? i'm sure they

could have won with his help. perhaps he can only kill once?

i'm gonna have to read the books now lol

Pretty close. The only other shows that give me the same amount of satisfaction are Boardwalk Empire and Fringe.

I love Game of Thrones! Thought this season was quite good and the finale was no disappointment.

I wish I had HBO myself, to rewatch season 1 since the friend I watch with kind of rushed me through it and it was kind of a blur to remember, but online charater charts kept me from getting lost at the beginning of this season.

and I'd secretly love to see Drogo back (in ghost form) next season drool

If you will, so will I

Wow, last episode was excellent and heartbreaking. Do you blame Don?

in the Mad Men thread I said:

This is my favorite show, but I haven't watched any of season five yet. I'll be back to comment in a few weeks after I've cleared out the DVR probably after the season finale.

So please, no spoilers.

I've already heard about Don's wife's sexy dance episode (I bought the 7" of the song, hehe), Pete's 'fight club' epsiode and Betty has gotten fat. All these headlines I read before I even knew what I was reading and that they were about Mad Men. mad It will be tough blocking out all references in the media after the season finale this weekend. sigh
