I have hair mostly because we've been dead broke for a long time. I've been traumatized by $10 places, so I only go to my $40 stylist. Too broke for that, so the hair got long.

It looks nice at that length (at least from what I can see). Find out if there is an Aveda Institute (school) near you; they give student haircuts. In New York, it's about $20, which is cheap for Aveda and Manhattan. It's not like bumble&bumble or somewhere that you have to let them do whatever they want, they just need practice so they'll cut it how you want it.

The biggest downside is that it takes forever (like 1-2 hours) because efore they cut, they have to get their instructor to show/discuss what you want and how to do it, then because they are students it just takes them longer to do the cut, and then the instructor has to come back again to sign off (and fix any unevenness).

Thanks for the advice! There isn't one within reasonable driving distance from me, but it's okay. I'm all right with it growing for now. I just trim my bangs when they reach my chin.
