It's sometimes way too easy to see exactly what mens junk looks like within the speedos. I like the padded idea - at least it keeps everything neat... and stops old pervs like me staring at them.

Exactly. This isn't "padding" anymore than the molded cups of a t-shirt bra are padding. It doesn't add size, it just smoothes things out and keeps you from revealing too much.

I've never understood peoples' attitude about Speedos. I grew up swimming and diving competitively - and that's all any of the guys I knew wore. Anybody who wore swim trunks was a hopeless, non-athletic nerd, in our books.

i get upset when i watch swimming competitions on tv and they never show the guys waist down n up close

Y'know what's funny? The number of male swimmers and divers I pal-ed around with growing up who turned out to be gay.

Unbeknownst to me, I was already a hag at 10.

They didn't have fat kids when I was growing up. And grown men didn't go to the pool (in Speedos or any other kind of swimwear). They had jobs.

I can tolerate them on athletic swimmers, of course it's the garment of choice there, but when you go to the beach and see these men with little duck dicks poking out the gusset or heartily endowed guys whom I can tell have been circumcised and we have never done the nasty, then that's taking it a bit too far.
