Yet more REAL WORLD examples, not generic "customer satisfaction surveys" like Apple fans keep blathering on about.

http://www.theverge.com/2...th-android

Introduction

After 4 years of owning an iPhone, I have reached the end of Day 29 of owning an Android phone - specifically, the HTC One X. Why is 29 days noteworthy? Because I have 30 days after buying a new phone to return it to AT&T if I am unhappy - so, if I'm going to go back to the iPhone, it would have to be tomorrow.

I'll go ahead and spoil the ending for you: I'm keeping the HTC One X. If you're curious as to why - read on!

Well, that's not true at all.

What I WANT to hear is a new Prince album that sounds like a cross between "1999" and "Dream Factory" biggrin

What was that about Apple's Maps being any good?

http://gizmodo.com/591817...comparison

Google Maps vs. Apple Maps: A Side-By-Side Comparison

This would be pretty compelling (and moving away from Google Maps seems like a bad idea) but Apple Maps is not even released. Who knows if this version is even complete?

right. who needs surveys that ask MANY many people, if you can find ONE person that agrees with you eek razz

damn, take off your pink glasses and denying simple facts.

the desastrous update situation on Andorid is mindboggling. yes, I know it's not Googles fault and it's not happening on your high end model. but that does not help the masses!

Based on my analysis, I believe the government faked the plane crash and demolished the WTC North Tower with explosives.
The South Tower, in a simultaneous but unrelated plot was brought down by actual terrorists.
Is it a deal?

One person? I posted at least FIVE earlier in the thread.

Surveys are skewed. More people trust real life examples than biased, generic, "customer surveys" where you don't even see real feedback, just "87% of customers said XYZ".

What are the variables of that study? Just middle class yuppies? Hipsters?

Fuck a survey, read what the PEOPLE are saying. Market share is more of a representative of the people, and we know what the score is there.

Also - only the previous two iPhones are getting iOS6 (and not all the features), and the first iPad isn't getting it at all. So it's not as if there aren't iOS users left in the cold with regards to updates either.

The people who care about getting updates swiftly will get Nexus-line devices or premium OEM devices that are high priority. Or a mid-range with an unlocked bootloader so community developed firmware like CyanogenMod can be utilised.

handpicked fanboys? sorry I rather believe in surveys then smile

anyway most of it is about pesonal taste and preference, look and feel, maps... subjective balloney

however, support (or lack thereof) is not subjective. it's 100% factual. why no comment from you on this graphic? why continue to ignore the truth? it is not a survey. it is hard facts.

Also - only the previous two iPhones are getting iOS6

wrong. 3GS gets it. so it has support way more than 3 1/2 years after release! yes, it won't have all the features. you can not support software for a front camera if there is no front camera hardware.... shrug

3 1/2 years. your usual Andoid has support for 3 weeks, or 3 months, if you're lucky.

in the meantime iPhone users don't have to worry about all the techno brabble and what choices to make or not to make. they simply will get the support. end of story.

again, I'm happy for you and that your high end model does not have these problmes. but if you claim a market share of 50+% then you have to include the garbage models too

That graphic is fundamentally flawed for one, and out of date for two.

At last years Google I/O an agreement was made with OEM's for them to make more of an effort with the update situation and it seems to be working.

It's flawed because you can't dictate what OEM's do with open-source software. In this scenario, that's the ONE downside.

What you're doing is focusing on this one scenario where a dictatorship can yield a more effective result than a democracy and disregarding everything else. It's like claiming Stalin was a great leader of Russia because of his rapid industrialisation developments that could only be achieved under a brutal dictatorship.

That graphic is also US-centric. Outside of the US, 2 year contracts seem ridiculous. Most people here in the UK have 12 or 18 month contracts. I can get any premium phone here for free on an 18 month contract. Even the people I know with iPhones update every year or 18 months, usually. So the VAST majority of people don't give a shit about support past the first 12-18 months anyway. Hardware manufacturers know this.

Here's the problem with these surveys:

A recent Piper Jaffray survey of 100 developers reported that most developers favored developing for iOS over Android, and a significant amount developed exclusively for iOS.

HOWEVER....

This survey..... was conducted at...... Apple's Developer Conference. falloff falloff lol falloff

Wonder what the results at Google's Developer Conference would show?

I don't know much about either brand, but considering the OP lives in the U.S., I'd think that would be pretty important.

These kind of comparisons are mostly futile because people misunderstand what it is they are comparing.

The iPhone4s is the flagship Apple device running the latest iOS. It can only really be compared to a similar product. Ie, the Samsung Galaxy SIII or the HTC OneX running ICS.

This will no doubt progress to the iPhone5 on iOS6 vs the latest Google phone on JellyBean or whatever it is called.

Any other comparisons are pointless unless it's like-for-like. It's like comparing a Rolls Royce to every other car. You wouldn't do that.

I have a BlackBerry 9790. smile

I think this applies to "Mac vs PC" discussions as well.

All I know is, if droid/samsung/htc is better than my iphone, then good for them, but the iphone is one of the coolest devices ever made. Every day I am astounded by what this thing in my hand can do, compared to what an Apple computer did 20 years ago. Or compared even to what my current laptop can do!

And to use your car analogy, I would guess there are ways that Mercedes is better than BMW and Lexus is better than Acura. But I would be happy driving any of those over my Camry lol
