I tried to watch it because I love dance, but I hate the reality show format.

It's totally reality show based. It's American Idol for dancing. They go to different cities, dancers audition, there's a lot of blahblah by "entertaining judges" and overly dramatic pauses, stupid drama etc.

My favorite "reality" type show was on BRAVO where they followed a group of rookies to the Cirque du Solei (sp?). Even their drama was interesting. It showed how little they were paid, how it affected their lives and relationships and how much they had to sacrifice to be in the troupe.

It is a contest on tv. That is not my definition of reality based tv.

Contest based format....reality show format...both non-scripted tv. Not a format I'm fond of.

First...cut out the overly long dramatic pauses.

Second...stop any other means of dragging the show out.

The contest itself is not so bad, it's all the padding they do to try to build up ridiculous levels of anticipation. It's seeing maybe 5 minutes of the competition in between 10-15 minutes of commercials.

Recording it and fast forwarding through all the drivel is not even worth it.
