I'M NOT SAYING YOU'RE UGLY. YOU JUST HAVE BAD LUCK WHEN IT COMES TO MIRRORS AND SUNLIGHT!

Trust me, sick shit doesn't just pass Christians by, they have the same struggles, issues, injustices and heartbreaks as anyone else; the only difference is in how we deal with the craziness in the aftermath, and believers it just means cleaving closer to the Lord in the mess, that's all.

I see the bad and good men as archtypes in his films to show the spiritual contrast of darkness vs. light.
You cannot have one without the other, and I feel that they are equally important in his movies.
Keep in mind that as a Christian filmmaker his thematic aim is to show the concepts of faith, grace, and redemption in the midst of tribulation. The heroes in his movies espouse those qualities and ultimately are more powerful than even the nastiest of his villains, because after all, as a believer- what it all comes down to when it's all said and done is that GOD TRIUMPHS. The end. No matter what the dirtiest villain can do against you, trust it will pass, God will bring you the angels (human or otherwise ) that you need to help you on your journey, and as a child of God, you will have the victory.
So no, the villains don't bother me, they're necessary to story insofar as needing to communicate how dire one's trial or storm experience is...
*almost forgot* With "For Colored Girls" he couldn't deviate too much from the play, so...the characters were what the characters were. I hated that movie by the way. I applaud him for wanting to stretch his chops and try new things, but that piece was simply beyond what he's able to do at this juncture, and a film adaptation of that play should have been left to more seasoned hands (if in fact anybody else even wanted to do it. He admitted he was a johnny-come-lately to the theatrical & cultural phenomenon that was "FCGWHCSWTRIE" and took the project on after people egging him on to check it out, and later falling in love with it). Anyway, it was above his head [Edited 5/24/12 13:02pm]
