In discussing Tyler's For Colored Girls movie in another thread and reminiscing about other films of his that I've seen, not to mention a few plays, it seems he is no fan of black men.

It seems that in all of his films, there has been some low down, no-good, dangerous brotha doing a woman wrong. Sure there is one good man to rescue a damsel in distress but that one good man pales in comparison to the bad guy or guys.

What say you? Am I misinterpreting Mr.P's work/message?

Speaking of, there's another Madea one on the horizon. But I forgot the names of the simply Perry ones that are suppose to be on the horizon, like the Alex Cross stuff.

And to your question, yes I've noticed along with a couple of other things, but then that's what For Colored Girls is anyway, so he really couldn't take a detour on the theme for that book. If he does do the Alex Cross stuff then it would definitely be a new direction in theme to his movies, but idk, I still don't see him as Alex Cross, but stranger things have happened.

I'm looking forward to the Alex Cross works but if he continues to do his shitterling circuit plays turned into movies....I wish he would stay positive with the men. I'm kind of over the whole save-a-sista-from-the-bad-black-guy-and-at-the-same-time find-jesus theme.

Yes I've benn saying this for years, but when I do I'm accuse of being a hater. He always make black men look bad, I really dislike this dude why we contiune to support him and his bufforey is beyond me.

As smooth said, I think him being molested at, what was it, nine, got a lot with how he probably feels about black men in general. Plus I think he saw his father being abusive to his mother.

Other than that, I don't usually dig Tyler's films partially because of that theme he always uses, only other thing is he always uses Madea to "save the day".

i think that last pic is after him whomping somebody's azz, or tearing up their stuff which is why he look tore up. But yeah, Idris Elba was originally asked but he passed, so Tyler said bunk it, he'll do it. I wasn't very kind about it myself and I like Tyler. But maybe it'll be an improvement on the hermit character Morgan played. Hmm coming out Oct. 2012.

In, Daddy's Little Girls, the momma was from hell and the main male character was a decent human being, that's one. Of course I've only seen bits and pieces of it.

That's the only one I can think of BUT....the momma's boyfriend was also from hell and seemed to corrupt the mother. Idris' character emphasizes how the momma wasn't that way until she met old dude!
