I used to date a guy whose mother loved fat back. I don't know if you're familiar with it, but it's the fattiest part of bacan; nothing but pure, unadulterated, colesterol-laden, artery-cloging fat. Soul food uses it quite a bit in collard greens. I saw this woman take a big piece of fat back out of a pot of greens and eat it. I almost threw up right there! EWWWWWW!

omg ill gawwwwwwwwwwwd no thats nasty!! makes me feel sick just imagining it

Pinapple on pizza is sickening.

I don't like mixing sweet & salty together. I won't touch meat with any sweet sauce or fruit on it. Pinapple chicken goes right in the garbage.

My dad has always had a hard-and-fast culinary rule: No fruit with the meat. no no no! lol

I do like lemon with chicken, though.

Love veggies on my pizza, and I LOVE pineapple on my pizza.

Yup. nod

Pineapple with chicken/ham on pizza is great.

BUT-

I hate greek style pizza with pineapples... only can do it on New York style pizza or deep dish, and not on California style either.

So the TYPE of pizza matters to me when it comes to toppings.

I've had pineapple on pizza with bbq chicken and with ham. I prefer it with bbq chicken.

I've also had a teriyaki burger topped with grilled pineapple and avocado. That was banging!!!

haven't had one of those in about 15 years I reckon hmmm

I started getting them at Teddy's Bigger Burger on Oahu but now I have a friend in South Beach who'll put one together for me if I want.

You know what? Before I tried it I thought it sounded like the nastiest thing ever.

Then I got bored one day and ordered a pizza with it on there.

I haven't ordered one without them, since.

And...now I keep trying to think up reasons to combine pineapple and meat together in other meals eek . I'm on some kind of weird kick that I don't think is gonna let up anytime soon.

So yeah - it's just you.

I thought it was revolting too until I tried a pizza with ham and pineapple. It was very good, and I was completely floored when I enjoyed it. lol

I think (most) ham is disgusting, too - so this addition doesn't help me. lol

Ohhhhh.... eek

I love ham. Probably so much that it'll shave a few years off my lifespan, and I don't regret it at all.

technically, a tomato is a fruit, and so is a pepper

But I know what you mean. I don't hate hawaiian pizza, but I could see the sweetness being a turnoff. I also am not a big fan of ham, so...not my favorite.

I think that's exactly why I like it so much, it's two different combinations of flavors that theoretically, shouldn't work together, but they do.

I find it a bit bland on a pizza to be honest.

Peach is a bit better.

Maybe I should try mango hmmm

Asian, Indian, Latin and other Island cultures around the globe have been combining different types of fruits and proteins for as long as they've been eating food. A lot of the time they include it with a spicy ingredient as well. And some of the fruit they use can be a bit bitter. So you end up with a combination of sweet, spicy, savory and possibly sour. That's kind of how food is supposed to work. lol

Same thing goes for anyone who eats chicken and eat the 'grissle' {that hard chewy ligament part of the chicken/turkey leg or wing}. That really makes my stomach weak thinking about it. shake

When my Grandfather ate chicken there was nothing left on the plate but a perfectly clean bone. Nothing! Whatever else was attached to it ended up in his stomach. That always freaked me out. lol

When it comes to pizza, I don't want any of that off the wall "experimental" stuff. Just give me plain old "normal" pizza with stuff like pepperoni, sausage, etc.

That was my mom, too! You damn near didn't have to wash her plate after she finished eating. I asked her, "Ma, why do you clean your plate down to the last miniscule of food?" She said, "My daddy taught me to clean my plate. If you put it on your plate, you ate in no matter what. We were not allowed to throw away food." Me, "Dag, Ma! It's not like y'all were starving..." Ma, "Yes, but times were hard back then, and you just didn't waste food." Me, "Okay, Ma. But if I don't like something or it looks or tastes nasty, I'm not eating it!" Ma, "Well, Trishababy, you are very fortunate to have tolerant parents!" lol

My little cousin does that. Her chicken bones are clean than a mug when she's done and I kind of gag a bit when I think about it. lol

^^ cracking up at this. When my DD was about 5 years old I introduced her to my guilty pleasure. Popeye's chicken wings. She came to me bringing a dried chicken bone and said proudly "look mommy, I skinned my chicken bone real good like you do." eek lol
