my long time girlfriend just asked me if a male workmate can stay the night ?

hi ...been a while since i have posted here...looking for views on this...my long time girlfriend with whom i have a house with now for 5 years has just phoned me to ask me it would be ok to bring a guy she works with back to the house tonight to stay overnight...she has been on a works outing all day and she is now on the way back...seemingly the guy lives on the other side of the city and they are both working tomorrow morning...i dont know this guy at all and ...if i am being honest...i wasnt too happy that she would even consider asking that...a guy i dont know at all coming over to stay the night ?...we have a hyperactive four year old girl and its a tiring day watching her so i would really just like to relax at night....

.

i told her i would rather she didnt bring any guys over to stay the night as she wouldnt like it if it was the other way around...just wondering if you have any views on this ?...am i being unreasonable here or what ?.....thanks for reading smile

Why can't he just go home? That's what normally people do.

And no he can't spend the night.

99.9% of everything I say is strictly for my own entertainment

This seems reasonable

But it could be totally innocent. It just depends on your relationship. If my gf asked me this, I would probably trust her and say "of course your co-worker can sleep on the couch for a night."

And I would keep my eyes wide open.

you can get from one side of scotland to another in 2 hours, so to get to the other side of the city is an hour max so sounds strange

also why a work do on a sunday daytime?

say yes, and bring a hot bird from your work home to stay with you next week. she can't say no

i know...i was in two minds about it but i just dont feel comfortable with it...its mainly just the fact that a stranger is coming over to your house when you just want to chill out and relax for a few hours...i do trust her...just dont think its right...

.

thanks for the replys.. smile

Obviously if he had stayed in a guest bedroom, I wouldn't mind it at all so long as it wasn't a frequent thing.

But, with a kid in the house, there's just no way in hell I would ever say yes.

Too many men are perverts.

uh oh...

I was tired of my lady, we'd been together too long.
Like a worn-out recording, of a favorite song.
So while she lay there sleeping, I read the paper in bed.
And in the personals column, there was this letter I read:

"If you like Pina Coladas, and getting caught in the rain.
If you're not into yoga, if you have half-a-brain.
If you like making love at midnight, in the dunes of the cape.
I'm the lady you've looked for, write to me, and escape."

I didn't think about my lady, I know that sounds kind of mean.
But me and my old lady, had fallen into the same old dull routine.
So I wrote to the paper, took out a personal ad.
And though I'm nobody's poet, I thought it wasn't half-bad.

"Yes, I like Pina Coladas, and getting caught in the rain.
I'm not much into health food, I am into champagne.
I've got to meet you by tomorrow noon, and cut through all this red tape.
At a bar called O'Malley's, where we'll plan our escape."

So I waited with high hopes, then she walked in the place.
I knew her smile in an instant, I knew the curve of her face.
It was my own lovely lady, and she said, "Oh, it's you."
And we laughed for a moment, and I said, "I never knew"..

"That you liked Pina Coladas, and getting caught in the rain.
And the feel of the ocean, and the taste of champagne.
If you like making love at midnight, in the dunes of the cape.
You're the love that I've looked for, come with me, and escape."

"If you like Pina Coladas, and getting caught in the rain.
If you're not into yoga, if you have half-a-brain.
If you like making love at midnight, in the dunes of the cape.
You're the love that I've looked for, come with me, and escape."

I'll TRY to give a serious, brainy advice: check out a pic of the guy, perhaps he's ugly as fuck

i'd be reluctant to allow a total unknown male or female person to stay over. imo if it happens once, it opens the door for the request to happen again.

my few reasons for reluctance:

1. invasion of privacy

2. a child to be considered

2. how long has she known this person?

4. criminal background of said person

i conclude: nah, nope, nada, don't think so, NO!

“Transracial is a term that has long since been defined as the adoption of a child that is of a different race than the adoptive parents,” : https://thinkprogress.org...fb6e18544a

i think you should get to know him in daylight before having him over at night, especially with the kid. she/your GF may feel like she knows him but with a kid in the house you best be careful

otherwise, if you ahd a separate guest house or something, i'd say sure, fine. it's her chum from work who needs a place to stay
