The Pirate Bay is making Cerebus very sad. Is anybody else having this problem in the States?

Evidently blocks are going up all over the place. I'm still trying to figure it out.

I've never really used Pirate Bay...but I did read somewhere that there were plans to try and stop people from using it somehow.

There was a court order put in place in the UK for isp's to block pirate bay, then this happened http://www.dailymail.co.u...ds-newsxml

Court decided it's illegal. In Holland telecom companies are obliged to block it. The parliament is discussing if that is censurship of internet or not. However, court decision will not change any time soon.

As of this afternoon it's back in the States. It was up through a backdoor link in the UK yesterday.

I have no issue with people being against the Pirate Bay. I download things there I would otherwise have to pay for. That's stealing. It's not a difficult concept for me to work out, really. I'm at peace with it.

What those who are against it fail to understand is that this kind of thing has been going on since the internet, and FTP specifically, was invented. It's a neverending war. Government and big business will defeat TPB eventually, and then people will go back to the old ways of downloading (which still exist) until another new way is created.

I still buy TONS of movies, music and comic books. But there are some extras that I don't want to own forever, so I download them instead.

I'm surprised people actually still use Pirate Bay.

Well.... yeah. True. But I was talking like a pirate in order to take the edge off the fact that it was REALLY hard for me to say something nice about anything to do with facebook. That's why I pointed out that I was taking the main topgallant mast (i.e., the high road).

It's not that serious, though. I hope you win.

Me and the kids were in Aldi a few weeks ago in the vegies aisle, and all of a sudden we heard "AARRRRRRRR"

it was really REALLY loud we jumped out of our skins

and then there was laughing like "ARGH-HAHAHAHAHAHA!"

and my kids looked scared but thrilled all the same "WHO IS SAYING THAT MUMMY???"

and then we rounded the corner, and there was a guy, who was pretty short, but otherwise normal looking who was there with his elderly mother. I think he was a person with Tourettes, but his outbursts were kind of only PIRATE ones

My kids asked me if he was maybe an elf pirate god bless them

I actually shed a little laughter tear. If you're going to have Tourettes, that would be the way to go!
