Tia and Pooch Are Out of ‘The Game’

Wow..........

Sad But True: Tia and Pooch Are Out of ‘The Game’

May 16th, 2012 - By Brande Victorian

The story that Melanie and Derwin would be no more on BET’s “The Game” is no longer just a rumor. Tia Mowry confirmed her exit last night on Twitter and her on-screen husband Pooch Hall is definitely leaving with her.

“Just wanted to let all my fans know that I will not be returning to The Game for season 6,” Tia tweeted. “It was an incredible run and I had lots of fun.”

The obvious question of why, along with how the heck is the show going to go on without the two main characters, hasn’t been answered yet, but it appears both actors have moved on to bigger, and perhaps better, things.

Pooch already a new gig as a series regular on Ray Donovan, a new Showtime pilot which was picked up. From most of your comments, HBO and Showtime are the route to go if you want to have a good role on TV so Pooch might be on the come up. As far as Tia, she just released a new book on motherhood, Oh Baby!, which hits stores today, and the second season of her and Tamera’s reality TV show on the Style Network will be coming back soon. I doubt she’s going to make a full career out of reality TV but at least the checks will still be rolling in.

Some reports have said the actors will be back to wrap up their story lines and TV Overmind says Pooch will still have a recurring role next season, much like Colby Bell’s Jason Pitts. I haven’t been watching the show consistently, but after last night’s episode it seemed Melanie might be moving to DC, so they could easily make her character disappear that way. We’ll have to see what goes down in the season finale June 5.

Shucks, I'll miss Tia. I'm a huge fan of her hustle. But, as I know the business side of the Mowry sisters, she'll be just fine. A lot of people don't know that she and her sister own a film production company and they produce tv shows and movies (for maybe the last 10 years now). Not the largest of production companies out there but they have settled comfortably into a kind of niche market servicing the family entertainment/women's television demographic. I think the parenting book is also a great idea, particularly as she has a degree in Psychology from Pepperdine: I think that could be interesting reading for the demographic she appeals to and the fan base that has grown with the Mowry sisters through the years.

I like it.

To me it seems like an authentic representation of what men (and especially women) connected with professional sports go through and how they act. Granted I have no idea but I give them credit for making it seem that way.

People have been bitching ever since it was revived by BET saying it isn't as goos and I question whether they've ever seen the show when it was on CW. Honestly it hasn't changed that much. The characters have grown and are going through different stuff but the quality hasn't really changed.

And how you gonna gripe about a show that fought back from cancellation that you fought for? I don't know I just know that once it's gone I think it'll be missed and black folk that don't really support anything will be crying about no black representation on television.

I know, right? What the hell happened? This season I haven't been able to get into the storylines...it seems too contrived now or something, I can't explain it.

But I never could stand Tia's character and her endless whining. We'll see how next season turns out.

I much prefer Soul Food on TVone.

Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

I was glad to see the show come back. I even thought that it was pretty good last

season particularly with Jason's ex wife and him very much involved in the script.

Sorry but this season the show has been pretty much shit. Bored to tears. Jason hasn't

been involved much in the script this season. He wasn't even on a few of the episodes

this season. Tia Mowry's and Pooch Hall's character have been very flaky this season.

They don't seem to know what to do with Malik's character. I've been supporting the

show every week but just because it's a show featuring black characters doesn't mean

i have to stand by it if the quality has suffered. It hasn't been as bad as the Reed Between the Lines but that isn't saying much. It seems like this show has suffered this

year from terrible storylines imo.

falloff @ that mess Reed Between the Lines. Have they decided to cancel that mess yet?

And I LOVE The Game, I'm in front of the TV every Tuesday night. Yes BET made it more dramatic, and this season has been boring. But it has really picked up imo. At the end of season 4 they got it right then it got back boring now it's back good. I'm sad to see Mel and Derwin go. I wonder how they will handle their exit, they basically made the show. I read that Pooch might be able to stay, but Tia is officially out.

I wonder if she was fired or just wanted to focus on something else.

One more thing, I don't know who's idea it was to give Tee Tee more lines, but they need to be shot. That guy has go to be the worst actor on TV right now. It's laughable how he stumbles over his lines and tries to be serious. lol
