How in the world did the owner or pound let this cat get that big? and cats are creepy

My beasty only ("ONLY" he says) weighs 18 lbs and I already make sure to pick up his dry food several times a day. If I don't, he'll eat it all. My house lion isn't fat, either, he's just a big critter. I also have his brother from the same litter and the big guy is at least a third larger all the way around. Height, length, tail, face, etc. I've read that some cats have issues with weight gain, though. They just get bigger and bigger.

Just like a human that is grossly overweight and unhealthy usually doesn't fare well for long.

And like others here, I'm wondering how it is that this cat got that big. It's not like with a human being where they can shovel as much food down their trap as they want - SOMEbody had to be feeding the shit outta this cat for it to get (and stay) that big.
