Octomom Investigated by CPS After Complaints Her Home Has No Plumbing, 14 Kids Living in Squalor

(Nathanael Jones/PacificCoastNews.com)Nadya "Octomom" Suleman is in danger of losing her 14 children after police paid a visit to her La Habra, California home on Tuesday night after her hairstylist visited her home to do her hair, found deplorable living conditions, and filed a complaint. Not only were the youngest of her brood, the 3-year-old octuplets, dirty and walking around barefoot in only T-shirts, but they were being forced to urinate and defecate in training potties set up in the backyard because the house's plumbing was not working, according to the stylist named Stephanie (who will not release her last name). Stephanie also took photographs, which have been obtained by TMZ, and claims that while she was giving Suleman a Brazilian blowout and haircut on April 18, the children were locked in a bedroom. In one photo Stephanie took, the mother-of-14 is shown happily flaunting her new 'do — for which she paid $520 (that includes two previous haircuts and $80 worth of product), despite the fact she's on welfare — while behind her a chair is wedged underneath a doorknob, as if it to keep the occupants inside.

Stephanie went to police to report the squalor she witnessed, which she says was difficult for her because she's a longtime friend of Suleman's, but she feels so terribly for the children. "The kids are in desperate need of help, and I tried to help and she's not open to anyone helping her," she told TMZ as she left the El Habra police station. "She thinks everything is fine with the kids, and it's not." When asked by the cameraman what exactly was wrong, she continued, "The kids don't wear clothes. I went over there yesterday and they're not wearing any pants. And they're outside in the freezing cold, it was 60 degrees, and they're shivering and she wouldn't let them come inside until they finished eating their dinner. It's just horrible."

In other photos Stephanie took inside the Suleman home — which has been desecrated with spray-painted graffiti, presumably by her older children — one room has tiny mattresses on the floor with no sheets or blankets, as well as two cribs. The kids, says Stephanie, "are sleeping on the floor. I offered her bunk beds. I said, 'We have bunk beds, you can take them.' She said, 'No, no I don't want them. We're ok right now. Everything's fine.' It's not fine! It's depressing, I want to cry."

On Tuesday night, three reps from Child Protective Services along with a police officer went to the Suleman home to investigate Stephanie's claims. In a video, children can be heard as the group repeatedly bangs on the front door until Suleman, 36, finally lets them in. Before the video cuts off, she can be heard telling them, "Excuse the graffiti." After an hour-and-a-half, CPS left after determining the children were not in immediate danger, but a spokesperson did tell TMZ the investigation is ongoing and there will be a follow-up visit to the Suleman home.

"I love those kids, but they're being neglected completely," says Stephanie. "[Suleman] needs help, she can't do this by herself. There's too many kids and they're not getting the help that they need. They're not getting attention, they're not even wearing clothes. The boys have girls' clothes on! I go over there and cut the kids' hair for free because you can't tell which ones are boys and which ones are girls, they all look the same!" say what now?

I actually kind of feel sorry for her because I'm really not convinced that she's mentally all there.

I've heard of a disorder where people are obsessed with pregnancy and newborn babies, but I'm not even sure it's been completely proven as clinical. In this scenario a woman feels at her absolute utmost when she is carrying a child and is interacting with a fresh, helpless newborn. They obsess over the hormonal rushes while pregnant, when the babies arrive they are completely transported and transfixed by the smell ad feel of them. It's like a high of some sort. From the first time I ever heard of Nadya Suleman's story I thought she might be one of the extreme cases.

Actually one of the people I'm point blank mad it is the doctor . I'm a combo of shocked and angry that he didn't use any wisdom or foresight whatsoever in helping this single, unemployed woman bring 8 children into the world in addition to the 6 she already had. I mean, there's elective procedures in the health system, and then there's really elective procedures

They all favor in my opinion, espeically the kids on the top row. The only one who looks slightly different is the little guy in the middle of the bottom row. Maybe it's the exposure or too much lighting, but his hair looks blonde, but all the others have brown hair. His brother to his left looks like he's disgusted with the whole affair! They're all cute kids, but are they all boys? They all look like little boyswith the exception of the little tyke in the red pajamas next to the one with the plaid shirt.

Ottie said that she feels sorry for Nadya. I do share the opinion that I think there is something psychologically amiss with the woman. I felt that way when she first came on the scene pregnant with that litter. And I'm sorry to use that description, but I was nursemaid to a German Shephard that had 14 puppies, and even she couldn't feed all of them; ran her poor ass ragged. I can imagine what 14 toddlers running around would do to a sane human being, let alone one who definitely has issues.

I actually used to like her and was all for her right to choose and to have all those kids but now....just seeing her downfall and how odd she acts during interviews....makes me dislike her extremely.

What's sad if CPS gets involved there's no way those kids will be raised together, nobody will take that many in all at the same time. I think they're trying to give her a chance so that they all can stay together. It's sad.

..but as for this recent news story being a stunt, I'm not inclined to believe it: she got ratted out by the hairstylist who felt compelled to do something after seeing things deteriorate over time. Pretty sad state of affairs for those children and I think the woman (Nadya) is out of her gourd...or at least until she's metaphorically pimp smacked back into reality like we see Suze doing above.

On top of every thing else, one of the children is autistic...I remember what a challenge it was for my best friend growing up with one autistic sibling amongst 3 kids. Man it was rough, and I can't see this woman being able to meet the basic needs of 14 healthy children, let alone having one amongst them with special needs. Without a life partner to help rear them and a steady income, these children are having some aspect of their emotional and psychological needs being unattended to. I don't believe one person can successfully handle all of this, and it will be the children who suffer the most for it

That interview with Orman was painful to watch. Nadya was totally clueless and kind of looked mental.

Idk.. it seems from interviews & everything else this chick has issues. And that she seemed more wanting of fame

I have to agree with you. She knows exactly what she's doing and she's doing it deliberately. When she had the kids she thought they would be her ticket to easy street. That hasn't turned out as she hoped and every chance she gets she tries to milk the situation to her advantage.

She makes me sick, too and I'll be glad when they take those kids from her trifling ass.

Because she was looking for fame and free money. She thinks she looks like Angelina Jolie (please, not in a million years). No one should've ever allowed her to have all these babies. No. No. Hell no! She wanted her own reality show in the first place. That's why she did it. She thought she would get a tv show and sponsors. Taking the kids from her now will be less detrimental to their overall well being than letting her continue to try and come up with hair brain schemes to exploit them.
