That clip alone doesn't tell you why it was so funny. You need the preceding "speech."

Wish they could have made Thor bigger, but that's a minor thing.

I noticed The Hulk varied in size throughout. A minor irritant.

I guess they couldn't find a tall enough actor for Thor. lol

falloff

I know fanboys everywhere squealed when they saw that "ugly dude on an ugly rock". love The Avengers will have their hands full in the sequel.

The second after-credits scene was funny. lol

something tells me "ugly dude" will be involved in either iron man 3, thor 2 or captain america 2 as well

man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

True. DC had Joss Whedon directing their Wonder Woman movie, didn't like his ideas and let him go. So Marvel snatched him up for The Avengers which will now make a billion dollars worldwide after its first ten days. confused

and it's a shame DC can't get shit done right. they are in serious revamp mode. marvel has had it's few clunkers too but it's just MARVELous the way they set this plan out 4 the avengers with each movie and it's paying off.

can u imagine any exec at DC films watching these numbers for the marvel films and looking at their NON roster of films scratching their heads?

It was so funny because Loki is trying to talk logic to The Hulk. That the Hulk should stop because after all Loki is this god powered figure so what's the use.

The Hulk just wants to smash him irregardless of his status. The audience knows it isn't going to kill Loki, hence the laughs.

After waiting about year for it to come out, I'm just relieved it's finally here. It was a fun ride. I want to see it again. I laughed alot, lots of humorous lines and moments. Just having all of those actors in one movie and it worked, which it that much more enjoyable. Enjoyed mentally drooling over Jeremy Renner, Robert Downey Jr., and Mark Ruffalo (who was awesome as David Banner/Hulk). Oh yes, definitely stay until the very end!

Both Black Widow and Hawkeye have significant presence and use throughout the movie. I don't know if that's good or bad thing for you, Lammastide.

[Edited 5/4/12 23:41pm]

They'd honestly be the two most interesting members of the current film roster. Maybe I'll check it out.

For subsequent films, though, I'm gonna need some rotation in the line up.

Black Widow made me want to go back to being a redhead.

Iron Man 1 was my favorite. Robert Downey Jr. is just funny as hell in it.

The Hulk is pretty good mostly due to Edward Norten and an exciting end.

Thor was fun.

Iron Man 2 is silly and fun, but not as good as the first. But, alot of laughs in it.

Captain America is.....a bit dry compared to the others. He's just too Superman-like

in his character and sense of purpose. I think he works best in the Avengers with

Tony Stark poking at him. Plus, he over gels his hair. I just can't get past that.

But his dna was altered in such a way that he can't die, correct? I mean, he's abnormally strong, and unable to die, get drunk, sick, etc., right? At least that's what I gathered from the movie.

He really needs to wear less hair gel, that's for sure.

From Wikipedia:

Captain America has no superhuman powers, although as a result of the Super-Soldier Serum and "Vita-Ray" treatment, he is transformed from a frail young man into a "perfect" specimen of human development and conditioning.[79] Captain America's strength, endurance, agility, speed, reflexes, durability, and healing are at the zenith of natural human potential. Rogers' body regularly replenishes the super-soldier serum; it does not wear off.[80]

The formula enhances all of his metabolic functions and prevents the build-up of fatigue poisons in his muscles, giving him endurance far in excess of an ordinary human being. This accounts for many of his extraordinary feats, including bench pressing 1200 pounds (545 kg) and running a mile (1.6 km) in 73 seconds (49 mph/78 kph).[81] Furthermore, his enhancements are the reason why he was able to survive being frozen in suspended animation for decades. Rogers cannot become intoxicated by alcohol, drugs, or impurities in the air and is immune to terrestrial diseases.[citation needed] He is also highly resistant to hypnosis or gases that could limit his focus.[82] The secrets of creating a super-soldier were lost with the death of its creator, Dr. Abraham Erskine.[83] However, in the ensuing decades there have been numerous secret attempts to recreate Erskine's treatment, only to have them end in failure. Even worse, the attempts have instead often created psychopathic supervillains of which Captain America's 1950s imitator and Nuke are the most notorious examples.

Rogers' battle experience and training make him an expert tactician and an excellent field commander, with his teammates frequently deferring to his orders in battle. Rogers' reflexes and senses are also extraordinarily keen. He has blended judo, western boxing, kickboxing, and gymnastics into his own unique fighting style and is a master of multiple martial arts. Years of practice with his indestructible shield make him able to aim and throw it with almost unerring accuracy. His skill with his shield is such that he can attack multiple targets in succession with a single throw or even cause a boomerang-like return from a throw to attack an enemy from behind. In canon, he is regarded by other skilled fighters as one of the best hand-to-hand combatants in the Marvel Universe.[84][85] Although the super-soldier serum is an important part of his strength, Rogers has shown himself still sufficiently capable against stronger opponents, even when the serum has been deactivated reverting him to his pre-Captain America physique.[86]

Rogers has vast U.S. military knowledge and is often shown to be familiar with ongoing, classified Defense Department operations. He is an expert in combat strategy, survival, acrobatics, military strategy, piloting, and demolitions. Despite his high profile as one of the world's most popular and recognizable superheroes, Rogers also has a broad understanding of the espionage community, largely through his ongoing relationship with S.H.I.E.L.D. He occasionally makes forays into relatively mundane career fields, including commercial arts, comic book artistry, education (high school history), and law enforcement.

Although he lacks superhuman strength, Captain America is one of the few mortal beings who has been deemed worthy enough to wield Thor's hammer.

So in essence, Cap is a bad muthafucka, even though he doesn't "super powers" in the traditional sense.

Nevermind. I looked it up on Wiki.

Apparently, Spider-man is in the same Universe, but part of some 'UN' group thingy.

My god, the list of all the Marvel characters in the Avengers lineup (outside of the movie) is

silly. Some of the Super-hero names and gimmicks made me actually LOL

Spiderman is a full member of the Avengers, a full member of the Fantastic Four, and has a good relationship with the X-men.

Unfortunately, that's only in the comics. Marvel, long ago, sold the film rights for Spiderman, the Fantastic Four, X-men, and other characters. Those contracts still hold, so they cannot use them in the Avengers saga. In one way, it sucks. Spiderman would have been an awesome cameo, and having the aliens be Skrulls would have been neat too. ON the other hand, it allows for a better fleshing out of the current roster.

^^^ Yeah, that was a bad mistake on Marvel's part. Short-term thinking.

I'm waiting for a Luke Cage movie. It would be sweet if Marvelset it in 1970's Harlem.

Hulk has always been my favorite. He has the perfect way to deal with the annoying people in one's life - smash them to bits without giving a fuck.

Some classic Avengers stories - Kree/Skrull War, Avengers vs Defenders, Avengers vs new Masters of Evil, Avengers vs X-Men(mini-series). Check out Hulk #300 - the Avengers(with Thor) take on a totally savage Hulk. Great stuff.
