Guess I meant 0-2...

It's happened in hockey a lot, and I think it's happened in baseball (I don't follow, either). But never the NBA.

Now that I think about it yeah, 1-3... but that would be great if it did in the NBA...

Eastern Conference Playoffs, 1st Round

Game 4

Atlanta Hawks 79Boston Celtics 101

This game wasn't even close. The Celtics went on a roll in the second quarter and never let up, relying on Rajon Rondo and his 20 point, 16 assist performance. The Celtics now take a commanding lead in the series but have to go back to Atlanta in the meantime to attempt to close it out.

Boston leads series 3-1.

The Bulls picked the right time to get injuries as they are shell shocked, Philly will knock them out. I don't know if they would take out Boston but if they were to play Atlanta, that would be a push series, all fodder for Miami.

The Bulls are shellshocked because Derrick Rose got hurt. When he went down with the injury, I've never seen the energy and electricity of the United Center crowd get sucked out so quickly. It was almost as if the crowd knew the season was over at that moment, knowing that regardless of what happened afterward they weren't going to win the title because there was no way they'd beat the Miami Heat. Now it looks like they can't even handle the Sixers.

That was some of the worst NBA playoff basketball I've ever witnessed by a "number 1" seed.

I wonder if Rose still "loves" his teammates after this nonsense? If he does,........ why?

I think if the season hadn't been so fucked up, Miami or someone like that would've been #1 instead of Chi-Town...

The reality is, even with Rose and Noah the bulls weren't going anywhere. This roster is NOT good enough 2 win a title.

I'm still disturbed Noah's still a Chicago Bull. That does not fit, man. They need more people.

Noah is nothing more than a role player.

Chicago fans thinks this guy is an all-star type player. Crazy talk.

Deng is a good complimentary player. Not great but certainly not a scrub. He plays hard.

The reason why the Bulls won a lot of games despite some of the East being weak

is because of defense. The Bulls make other teams play ugly basketball. The fact that

they've won their share of games without Rose is a testament to playing team defense.

Deng has no business being anywhere near an NBA All-star team. When the game is on the line, he completely disappears on offense and defense.

Noah and Varejao are Dennis Rodman type players. Not saying they're as good as he was - just that they go out and play hard whenever they're on the floor without pouting if they don't get a bunch of touches. Certainly they're still a type of role playing, but it's good to have players like them if they want to go all the way. They're great for the moral of the rest of the team, especially the bench. Chicago just needs another star. They've got Batman - they need a Robin.

Western Conference Playoffs, 1st Round

Game 4

San Antonio Spurs 87 Utah Jazz 81

San Antonio led by 21 points with a little over five minutes to go in the game before the Jazz make a final furous, desperate 19-2 run to keep their playoff hopes alive. However, they were only able to cut it to four points with about 48 seconds left in the game before a huge fast break bucket by Manu Ginnobili helped seal the game for the Spurs and allowed them to sweep the Jazz out of the playoffs.

San Antonio wins series 4-0.

In other NBA news...

The prognosis for Baron Davis looks pretty grim. He went down with a severe knee injury in yesterday's game against the Miami Heat, and an MRI revealed that he not only completely tore the ACL and MCL in his knee but also suffered a partial tear in his patella tendon. He is expected to have surgery on his knee later this week and is expected to miss at least an entire year from the game. Given his past history with injuries, this could be a career-ending injury.

Knicks would be foolish to play Jeremy Lin. No need to risk further injury to the kid.

It shows you how far the Knicks have sunk when the fans are giddy over ONE playoff win in 11 years. During the 90s, anything less than the conference finals was considered failure. After that it was Scott Layden, Isiah Thomas, bad contacts, Eddy Curry, Stephon Marbury, etc. And we have James Dolan to thank for turning the Knicks into a laughing stock. I still don't think they'll win anything as long as he & Cablevision own the team.

In what could be a night full of closeout games in the NBA Playoffs....

Eastern Conference Playoffs, 1st Round

Game 5

Orlando Magic 87 Indiana Pacers 105

The Magic fought hard to keep their postseason alive for about three quarters, but Indiana then stepped on the gas and outscored Orlando 36-16 during the final 12 minutes of the game to earn the victory and win the series. Danny Granger led the Pacers with 25 points while Darren Collison added 19 points, 15 of which came in the fateful fourth quarter. Jameer Nelson led the Magic with 27 points while Glen "Big Baby" Davis added 15 but had a poor shooting game, making just six shots on 17 attempts. This game was most likely Stan Van Gundy's final game as coach of the Orlando Magic.

Indiana wins series 4-1.

Well, I'm not sure exactly what you're saying as I've never seen him not try, which is actually what I'm getting at. I said he's not as good as Rodman, so of course he's not going to have the same results. But like I said, every time I've seen him play (which is like, hundreds) he always makes an effort to do his job. A lot of higher paid "stars" don't. Maybe I'm just not seeing what you're seeing. shrug I'll be watching for it now... next season. lol

So long Stan Van Gundy. Your screechy voice is hella annoying, but you're a damn fine coach. Hope you get a good job next season (if you're looking for one).

Edit: YOUR damn it. Not YOU'RE. I've been doin' that lately. Pisses me off.

So I saw a quick blip on PTI this afternoon about this rumor that the Bobcats may be looking at Patrick Ewing as their new head coach. I believe everybody deserves a chance, but that's going to be a tough gig, even for an experienced coach.
