This is my stance on it (I'm mixed race).

You chose the side you feel most comfortable with, even if that isn't a side---some people actually call themselves mixed, like Tiger Woods.

My stance is that it's a personal decision, and whoever has a problem with it should just mind their own business.

With regards to my cousins and family It's not so much that they are more comfortable with being white that is the problem---it's that the view being Asian as lesser.

I don't view being white as lesser--it's given me a wonderful penis, an adequate amount of body hair, and the ability to stand just shy of 6 feet tall. I love being white, and I find white folks gorgeous. But, I identify with being Asian.

It's quite complicated for mixed race people.

The Asians Gunshalen is referring to aren't mixed though. They're first and second generationers of a single race who view their own race as being less adequate.

Interesting view....

I got to say personally, i view myself as just white. But i am mixed with Cherokee & German, but i don't really see myself as mixed. Also i actually have a lot of asians saying i look part asian cause of my eyes, a lot have said i have Japanese eyes... i don't see it lol to me i just look white & not mixed at all.

Do you have an epicanthic fold? There are lots of white folks who have them (Björk is one).

I believe the fold is more common is high latitude regions with cold weather. I could be wrong.

Most whites who have them are scandinavian or from cold weather regions, though some blacks

have them too.

It's predominantly an Asian trait though. 50% of THais have them, and a higher precentage of

Chinese have them. Asians see the folds as highly undesirable, and want Western style eyes.

The call white people's eyes "sweet eyes".

I haven't gotten close with many Asian people. Not certain why, they just seem to elude me. I don't think its me...I'm pretty open minded and inclusive. It seems they have a tendency to keep to themselves...

Anyways....my point is..I don't know many Asian people and you give me very frank and honest insights into their culture and world view. One of the many reasons my time "@daorg" helps me in life.

I LOOOOOVE living in Asia, but I find their acceptance of racist ideas disturbing.

I mean, don't get me wrong--you won't be seeing lynchings and things like that

here. But I'll give you Singapore as an example.

In Singapore they have very strictly anti-discrimination laws on the books.

Singapore is 35% Chinese, 10% Malay, and 5% Indian, then 50% foreigner (I know that's huge).

So, the Chinese make up the vast majority (70%) of native Singaporians.

And as I said, they have very strong anti-discrimination laws.

Yet, their newspaper job postings are filled with requirements that

"for better business relations, you must speak Madarine."

This is complicated, because all Singaporians must learn 2 languages.

English (language #1), and (ethnic--language #2). They have to take tests

on their languages every year. English is no problem...everyone speaks it there...and,

they speak it well.

However, only the ethnically Chinese learn Mandarin as language #2. Malays

learn a combination of languages, and Indians learn Hindi.

So, the job requirements for Mandarin are obviously racially discriminatory.

Singaporian companies get away with it because they do HUGE amounts of business

with Hong Kong and China. However, all major International companies in Hong Kong

and Shanghai are required to be be-lingual, so speaking English should suffice.

THey....are....racist.

then some of us become a judge of that "another" because the fit was not perfect.

in the process of trying to look to others for our sense of self worth, style, or acceptable mindset is that we lose so many of our years not focusing on ourselves. it is possible for one to be caught up in an analytical labyrinth.

respectfully:

since you came out, why not just let others be who they want to be. be they, short, tall, trim, thin, fat, chubby, loud, flamboyant, girlie, guyee, stoic, or caught in cultural self-denial, or those still in the cocoon of self acceptance, or whatever. just let it/them be.

imo you should realize the courage it took for you to come out. be proud of you. you and your family, close friends and associates are the ones that matter.

I hate that word. It's like saying you tolerate me for shitting on your carpet. confused

and that's your prerogative to feel that way about the word tolerate T84.

just like imo, hate is such a hateful word. but that's our individual prerogative, i.e., to see it our own way.

as for me, i'd momentarily tolerate the smell of ones excremental odor if i knew you/they were sick. it would be obvious that the person was sick if he/she were defecating on my carpet, i'd consider them mentally sick and in need of professional medical attention. so i'd immediately contact the nearest 51-50 ambulance transporters so the sick person could get proper treatment. the person would be transported to the nearest hospital facility. i could then have my carpet cleaned and consider it disease free. i would not want to tolerate a room smelling of "schiten" for any length of time.

anyway, the word i chose was "tolerance" which differs in definition from 'tolerate'.

one of five definitions of tolerance:

1.

a fair, objective, and permissive attitude toward those whose opinions, practices, race, religion, nationality, sexual orientation etc., differ from one's own; freedom from bigotry.
(ain't the english language strange sometime in regard to our individual intrepretations? one word can sometimes have several definitions.)

too bad he let the feedback to the words of this song distort his ego. he obviously chose the wrong way to exhibit his exclusive right to his preogtatives.
