Gangster Glamorization

-_-, this 47 year old store owner was killed in my hometown IN FRONT of his wife & kids. Was killed by a 17 year old, who now is going to prison the rest of his life, his life gone over dumb-shit. The people stole nothing, it was most likely a gang Initiation they said. All of these people my age or older[OR Younger] that act like wanna gangsters are fucking stupid, gangsters are scum of the earth that do shit like this to people. Killing people that actually contribute to society. It is driving me nuts how people watch BET and think it is ''so cool'' to live the thug life or w/e. No you are fucking stupid & need to grow up. Gangsters are pieces of shit & don't need to be glamorized. And i am getting tired of how it is seen as so cool to look like a hard bitch all the time when your soft as a fairy.

Damn right, man. Damn right.

Tried to tell my younger cousin about this thing like a year back.

Nothing cool about spending your life in prison, aint nothing cool about getting killed on the streets. Nothing cool about fucking up your family because of some "gangster" shit.

But they think it's all pimps and hoes, San Andreas shit. bored2 They'll learn eventually though. sigh

is this the part where i have to say

that there are those of us who have

come from there to get to here AND

while we were there did for communities

whut the churches and stores wouldn't.

so yep, there are no 'GANGSTA' niggas today

just lil punks that got life fucked up,

HOWEVER when you generalize the way you have

you loose the respect of havin a good message.

i'm 56 with a non-existant work history but

lived a lifestyle with the very people whom

i faced in the court system. i'm not a convict

and this is the first year i've been in school since

'69

havin said that,

i speak yearly for the court systems of california

and soon will speakin on a national level.

not to advocate 'gangsterism' but to let some

who chose 'the life' know that they can become

members of society that can contribute more

than some who claim that that's whut they

exsist to do. (you know the ones)

Too many of those that I have met and worked with have said straight up that they do not value human life including their own. It does boil down to the choices you make either to be a contributing member of society of right or not.

Blame rap music, which has been pushing this image on the black community - and black males specifically - for years and years now.

Ever listen to the shit? All it is is guy's talking about how many guns they have and how tough they think they are, and how many women they screw, and how fancy their car is and how much money they have (usually from selling drugs), and then saying that any guy who isn't like that is a loser.

Imagine being a black male and being constantly inundated with that bullshit while you're in your developmental years.

It's like they're being programmed to think that's what being a man is, that that's the right way to be and if they don't fit that, then something is wrong with them.

And...I'll probably get eyerolls for this, but I think that's intentional, that it's apart of some kind of psychological warfare against the black community and black males in particular; encourage them to value the wrong shit and be self-destructive and destructive of their own communities, and then watch the black population, destroy itself.

Just like I think that the collective, modern preoccupation with financial success and materialism is something that is intentionally brainwashed into the population to keep people constantly chasing after money and 'things', and not focusing on the stuff they should be, like what policies are being passed and developing themselves in other, more important ways.

Exactly, there have been wannabe gangsters ever since the beginning of Gangs.

Why is "Gangster Glamorization" only a problem in Black Communites?

Look at how many gangster movies Hollywood has put out like the Godfather, Scarface, Goodfellas.

There aren't any Black People in those movies.

Why aren't people blaming the movies when some White Kid knocks somebody in the head with a baseball bat?

JERKIN' EVERYTHING IN SIGHT!!!!!

Oh TRUST ME this shit is not just in the black community. It is EVERY community; i have gone to school with wannabe thugs that where white, black, Asian, middle-eastern, Latino etc.

In my home-town there are so many self proclaimed wiggers confused confused confused confused confused confused confused confused confused confused confused confused confused confused confused confused confused confused confused confused confused confused confused confused confused confused

Every time i see them I’m just like...........................................

Back on my High School days circa 08 i was working at Circuit City. And this white guy told me he was from Philly & showed me all these tattoos he had and such. And told me he was this hardcore thug, and he shot up so many people’s houses, and that on weekend. If he is bored and he goes and starts with the biggest guys he can find just for fun and than whoops there ass rolleyes

And he beat up a Navy Seal, and he has a stripper pole in his house & all these bitches AND he also has a son dead duh

He was one of the worst human beings i ever had the dis-pleasure of knowing or working with, and that is what I mean! That mentality that is so badass & ''MANLY'' to talk about who you supposedly tried to kill & how many bitches you have. And you have a kid to? Someone get Nancy Grace on that bitch: lol:

America didnt give a flying fuck when the gang and drug problems stayed in the hood. Is it an accident or a coincidence that every major city with a large black population has a ghetto in the South or Eastern part of the city (South Side of Chicago, South Bronx, East Oakland, South Central Los Angeles, Southeast San Diego)? No...it was planned that way.

Most if not all of the black gangs in those hoods were formed in response to the Black Panthers. They were not formed to terrorize their neigborhoods...they were formed to police their neighborhoods from the "police" who were supposed to be there to "protect and serve" but instead were terrorizing them. Once this became a "problem", the ghettos were suddenly flooded with drugs and weapons. Yes, there were definitely blacks who contributed greatly to the downfall of their communities, but are you telling me these guys were able to procure military assault rifles all by themselves? They had boats and planes to bring tons of cocaine, heroine and marijuana into the country all by themselves (and I know all about Frank Lucas...if you think he didnt have someone high up who looked the other way, then you are a fool)? Remember the scene in "The Godfather" when they were having the commission meeting and decided that you could only sell drugs in the black neighborhoods because "they're animals anyway...let them lose their souls"? That was not just made up for the movie. That is FACT. J Edgar Hoover (who everyone knows was in the mob's pocket yet the FBI headquarters is named after him?) signed off on that shit. DIVIDE and CONQUER. Now, instead of policing your neighborhood, you're focused on the cats on the next block and how much money they're making, how much more money you could make if they werent there. Voila...Bloods vs. Crips, PStones vs. Folks, etc.

It wasnt until the gangsters wised up, moved out of the hood and set up operations in "good" neighborhoods that America took notice. Suddenly, we have a "gang epidemic". Suddenly, we have to "DARE to keep kids off drugs". But again, when it was just the "niggers and wetbacks", nobody gave a fuck. Oh...and I forgot...Hollywood realized how much money could be made off of the "scum of the earth". Wonder if that contributed to the white boys in East Cupcake, Nebraska who now think they're neighborhood is a "hood". Nah...let's just blame dem ghetto folk.

I grew up surrounded by gangsters...real gangsters, not these wannabe motherfuckers who think they're hard because they watched "Boyz N Tha Hood". I never banged myself, but I was definitely down by association and my boys would have killed for me. I hate to say it, but I would have killed for them too and I thank God that I never found myself wrapped up in any serious situation. Looking back, I know we were idiots, but when I see people labeling gangsters as the "scum of the earth" and the worst pieces of shit, etc, it pisses me off. I am still close with a lot of my gangster homeboys and will be till the day I die. You dont understand what some folks have been through and have no idea what you're talking about.

I do agree that by now folks should have wised up and put their talents to bette use, but to just label them them all as scum is ridiculous.

That describes pretty much every government on Gods green earth.

How are we going to clean up that "scum"?

Serously...I dont want folks to think I condone all this stuff. Anyone who goes and shoots some innocent person so they can join a gang is an idiot and deserves just punishment. That aint the way it was done in my day.

You didnt join a gang because it was hip. You joined because they were your family. You didnt wear Dickies because Ice Cube and MC Ren did. You wore Dickies because (back then) you could get two pairs for the price of one pair of Levi's. You didnt "sag" your pants because you wanted to...you sagged because your pants were too short and you didnt want to be teased for "flooding".

I could go on and on. Bottom line is that the shit does need to stop. The way this country is, I dont think it ever will.

Because white kids aren't going around committing crimes dressed in brim hats, sharp suits, etc. like the Al Capone type gangsters wore. Black kids aren't either for that matter. True, that era of gangsters was glamorized and it's also an era that has been out of style for numerous decades. Nobody is going around committing crimes dress like this. Folks that do dress like that are usually harmless cool people who are fans of The Time or the look in general.

It also costs money to dress sharp. Any fool off the street can buy shit hop attire from Walmart. It may not be the name brands but you can certainly achieve the same look for very cheap. It's gonna cost you some money if you wanna look sharp like those 1920s gangsters and if you commit a crime dressed as one in this day and age, you are going to be very easily identified and caught by the police because there aren't a lot of people dressing like these days.

As for music, yeah, there has always been negative stuff celebrated in music. I love the hell out of some Rick James and he was as negative as they came with his music. But how many folks did you see on TV being arrested for committing a crime wearing thigh high boots and glittery braids? None, because not only did it take money to dress like that, but it took guts. The shit hop look is an average look that's cheap to achieve, takes no guts to wear because millions are wearing it, and is easy to blend into a crowd after a crime is committed. It's very easy to idolize the idiots that make that music and do they stuff they preach in their lyrics. It's not easy at all to idolize the 1920s gangsters and do the stuff they are glamorized for not in this day and age. If it were still the 1920s and they wouldn't look out of place, it would still take money to dress that way.

There's no excuse for shit hop, it just needs to go out of style. It dominated the 1990s which was already long enough. But then it dominated the 2000s also and is still dominating the 2010s. If people don't have the good taste to drop it because it's the most dullest music in the history of music, well go after it with both barrels and attack it by any means necessary to get rid of it. evillol

No, see you got me totally mixed up. True enough, the older white generation hated rock and roll becuase it was considered "devil" music because of that rhythm that makes you wanna shake ass, roll hips, roll titties, and anything else sexual looking they could think of. It came from black music and they didn't want their white kids listening to it.

I'm the exact opposite. I love the "devil" rhythm that makes you wanna shake ass and the reason I hate shit hop, even more than the rediculous criminal images that's in it, is the fact that that "devil" rhythm is gone and 90% of it since the mid 1990s is as slow and rhythmless as a damn Lawrence Welk concert. The older generations said that black people were responsible for putting the rhythm in music so if that's the case, I hate shit hop because it's not "black" enough. If rhythm equals black by their standards, then rhythmless equals white and going by rhythm, shit hop is "whiter" than Lawrence Welk, Barbara Striesand, and Slim Whitman combined. I'm the total opposite. I don't bitch because white music has been "blackened", I bitch because black music has been "whitened".

I ain't got no damn kids and don't want any and if I did have any, they probably would have ended up interracial. But you are right about one thing, I do wish white kids would drop shit hop. Why? Well hell, anything that crossed over has usually been weakened for white audiences from how it previously was. I wish white kids would drop it so maybe folks could go back to throwin' down hard like they used to before all this massive crossover. But then again, even if white kids did drop shit hop, it has dominated since the mid 1990s already and now there is a whole generation of black kids who are just as rhythmless as white kids. Talk about folks getting the last laugh. The stuff shirts that were against rock and roll would be getting the last laugh these days because the rhythm has been taken back out of the music like it used to be and now they also have young black kids killing each other over meaningless bullshit and also bragging about "keeping it real" and "staying in the ghetto" as if that's where they were meant to be in the first place. Shit hop is a white racist's dream come true and I'd love to see it die if nothing more than just to piss them off. They're the ones benefitting from the bullshit, not the idiots making it or listening to it.
