Popular movies you've never seen because everyone else has Am I the only one who does this: skips movies solely because they're popular? I just saw a promo for The Way We Were on TCM. I remember when that movie came out and all the girls (I was in high school at the time) were blubbering over this thing. "It's so romaaaaantic! " And I decided I wasn't going to see it - just because of their reaction. I've never seen ET, either. It wasn't intentional - I was in college and just didn't have time. But now, I kind of like being one of the few who haven't seen it. Who's with me? We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Although I've snippets on youtube and such, I have never seen:
1. Any of the Godfather movies 2. Scarface 3. Any of the Mutant supehero movies (I don't even remember their names ) 4. 7 5. Any of the Twighlight movies 6. Showgirls 7. any of the SAW movies 8. Precious 9. Citizen Kane 10. Passion of the Christ
Movies I did see but couldn't understand why people raved about them are:
1. Do the Right thing... bleh 2. Dances with Wolves....boring ass movie, with a terrible actor 3. Braveheart...it was....ok 4. Friday....ok 5. Darknight II (whatever it's called)...it was good, but the first was better 6. Inception....It was good...but not excellent 7. Hangover...I think I laughed at one scene...I don't get this 'Asians are funny' thing. Then they had to follow it up with Hangover II in Bangkok, and turn up the volumn on the Asians are funny bullshit. 8. Eddie Murphey's Raw...oh please (this goes for most Eddie Murphey movies I've seen) 9. There's Something about Mary (it had a few LOL moments, but not that many) 10. 7 Brides for 7 Brothers.....people who made that movie should have been imprisoned.

Grease, gone w/ the wind, rocky horror pic show, sound of music, rent. Well to b honest, Grease mostly because its gayamus-maximus...sound of music is chickamus-maximus...rocky pic show cuz its trendamus-maximus....so I guess that leaves Gone With the Bland.

I've owned The Hurt Locker since it was released on Bluray and it's still in the celophane.
I've never seen Blade Runner. I've never seen a Harry Potter film.
More will come to me. Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!

It was only last year when I watched "Cleopatra"(Both versions, Claudette & Liz).
Enjoyed Liz' version, despite the so many hollywood bullshit that was scattered all over the film.

Its worth watching Gone With The Wind just to witness the spectacle of its production, considering its time period. Same with the Wizard of OZ.

Harry Potter anything Lord Of The Rings anything Twilight anything mostly because all of the above seem aimed at kids or big kids who read the books
Avatar Hunger Games - this is the first one that came to mind. I refuse to believe all that hype.
Star Wars (I've seen just about every episode of the 60s TV Star Trek via my parents though. )

Gotta say though, I really enjoyed the catty exchange between the filmmaker and critic Armond White

Harry Potter: The books I read are great. THe movies are good-to-fair
LOTR: The books are tedius, and require far too much zeal and patience to trudge through. The movies are great but over-the-top, and the last movie has no idea how to end.
Twiightlet.... yeah, please don't support that shit.
Avatar: This is similar to The Last Samuri in that white, westerners invade an indigenous population, and a white guy comes in and is their Jesus. I don't have a problem with an invasion of indigenous populations movie---certainly, this has been going on for ages in populations. Nor do I have a problem with depictions of slavery in movies---hell, the last stronghold of slavery in the world is an African nation where blacks are enslaving other blacks. The problem I have is when the white guy invades, is it really realistic that he also save the population? Was there a western savior of the Native Americans? Was there a western savior in India who kicked the British out? Hell no, Ghandi did, and he was very much Indian. Hollywood seems to have always one template....When we come face-to-face with an Alien species, we either dominate them (And save them), or they are downright evil....Star Trek is the only one that depicts a more realistic 'meeting of cultures' between humans and their first meetings with Vulcans. Anyways, I'm rambling, but I found avatar to be, at the very least, patronizing and racially....unfortunate.
Star Wars: All the movies suck excelt Empire Strikes Back.... But, I like them

So when it made the rounds of theaters again (probably for the 60th anniversary in 1999), I told her, "I'm going to see it again. If you have any interest, at all, see it now. It's a 'big screen' kind of film - and you don't know when you might have another chance." She decided to go. And while it isn't on her list of favorites, she's glad to have seen it. None of us think asians are funny, Dan
I have not seen any of that top ten either, except Godfather, Citizen Kane, and Scarface.
I also have not seen all of Forest Gump. I actually walked out of the theater on that one when the fillm broke and didn't feel like waiting for them to fix it.
