EuroTrip 2012 My son and 4 of his friends are travelling to Europe after high school graduation this June. They are going to Amsterdam, Berlin and Munich.
Any suggestions?
Any of y'all live in any of those cities?
Thanks! | |

Never lived or traveled there, but Amsterdam seems to be the place to be for people of all ages, nowadays.

Well, when in Munich he should visit the English Garden (especially in june when people sunbathe nude there--that'll be hilarious for Americans).
I personally love the Residenz, but that's old people's interests.
At his age, he should go to ride an alpine coaster!
At Nuewschwanstein near Munich.
I personally would rent a car, but you must 25 in Germany to do this. You can by Euro-passes online (it's much cheaper for someone with an American passport to buy train passes in the states) than to buy passes while in Germany.
Take the hour train down to Garmisch and ride train or cable car up the Zugspitze---really awesome view.
There's also lots of hang-gliding / ultra-light activities near Garmische.
Dave1992, rushing07, or Izenstek could probably give you better advice on the other two cities.
Depending on how long they stay, there are very cheap direct flights from A-dam to Cardiff, and Cardiff/Wales is just lovely. They people are very warm and friendly....and speak English, which can be a good break (albeit everyone in A-dam will probably speak English )
I lived in Germany for two years, and LOVED the experience, but I'm not sure how accomodating it is to really young people. I was only 20/21 when I was there, but I had shipped my own car, so it was a bigass party to me.
Germans are just lovely.
