Question For Fellow Orgers With Acne

I am having the WORST time with acne on my forehead lately. It's driving me nuts!

My face is the only place i really get acne luckilly, 2 week's ago it was not bad at all. Out of nowhere this week i have redness all over my face & a ton of zits on my forehead confused , like worse than usual.

I'm not sure what to do... i use cleansing products, i make sure to clean my face with a rag or other after sweating a lot. Like after work or after the gym i will cleanse my face a bit.....

But what else can i do? i use clearasil & St. Ives for the face. Not to mention i try not to ever touch my face or pop any zits. Is there somethign better? i'm at wits end trying to figure out the best way to go about these red buggers!

Everyone say's you get them usualy from sweat, well i sweat at random times of the day sometimes... i can't clean my face every time i sweat one drop lol

So what are the best products to use? and best way to keep acne away?

First off, don't use a rag to wash your face. You apply the facial cleanser to your face in the sink, splash some water and rub the cleanser gently into your skin. Then you rinse your face in the sink and pat dry with a towel.

www.proactiv.com

I use Proactiv which has worked wonders for me. I use the three step cleansing system. When pimples do show up, I put some of their "Refining Mask" product directly on the pimple at night so that it can kill the bacteria. It takes a few days but the pimple eventually goes away. I do make sure to use Proactiv twice a day for positive results. Also Proactiv has a wide range of other products that can help too, especially for those dark marks left behind after pimples go away.

Do you know what your skin type is? That may help you understand why pimples show up on your face when they do. Or are you eating a lot of sweets? Under some stress right now?

For me, when I'm under stress, I tend to get stubborn pimples on my chin, but by using Proactiv, they don't last as long as they normally would if I was just using a generic facial cleanser. Also I know when I eat chocolate, that's a guaranteed breakout for my face, so I only eat it sporatically.

Hope this helps...thumbs up!

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Sometimes hairspray can trigger acne on my forehead... maybe its your hair products?

I have sensitive skin so I have to use all natural stuff, but if im feeling particulary greasy or zitty, a good wipe down with alcohol always helps... Not the kind you drink, the rubbing stuff... even tho I dont know why they call it rubbing alcohol... Who rubs their body with that stuff?? omg

Proactive is good for SOME forms of acne... it is drying though, but it should do the trick. It is expensive.

Buy a facial steamer and steam your face nightly so bacteria doesn't get a chance to develop pimples. STAY AWAY from soda and juices as much as possible, sugar is the real culprit that swells the skin and thereby helps pores to clog. So exfoliate, cleanse and then moisturize.

Okay, Are you a boy or a girl? Because if you are a girl, you need to make sure and take birth control as usually breakouts are hormonal and this will help GREATLY! Also, use anything with Sallicilic Acid (try and find the strongest percentage you can find) and if it's really bad go to the health food store (or you can find it at some Walgreens) and buy some 100 percent pure TEA TREE OIL and apply it liberally and often. It will KILL anything! For really bad and combative breakouts tea tree oil is the shiz , seriously. Good luck smile

Everytime I used some medicated stuff thats meant for acne , it made it worse and left me with scars. so I just keep it simple with a normal facewash from Cetaphil razz and try to avoid soda and chocolate razz

Your diet can trigger acne like acidy and greasy foods, plus chocolate. Find out what you're eating that's triggering it.

Go to a dermatologist.

-avoid huge amounts of carbohydrates. (certain carbs/starches can lead to acne in men due to the hormones they trigger)

- avoid huge amounts of fat, especially fried food.

- avoid high amounts of refined sugars

- avoid high amounts of pork

- drink huge amounts of rooiboos tea, preferrably with sweetener, not with sugar

- try some products that contain erythromycin.

- try some OTC products that contain benzoylperoxide before you try erythromycin

- work out, exercise

- drink plenty of water

Go to a dermatologist.

wink

This is the best advice.

Barring that, wash your face with something gentle twice a day (like cetaphyl mentioned) without using a washcloth or rag and be sure to moisturize after.

Don't use facial scrubs daily. They're far too harsh.

From all the products I tried, the products with Tea Tree oil seem to have helped my skin the most. I used to buy products at The Body Shop but now Im fine with a Tea Tree oil cleanser from Trader Joes. My acne is not completely gone but its much better than it was a few years back

You're welcome. thumbs up! Yeah I know, Proactiv can be quite expensive but it's worth it, at least for me it is. When I don't use it, I use Cetaphil. I can't use anything else. Neutrogena used to break my skin out into dry, red patches.

Figure out what foods cause it and avoid them as much as possible. For me, it's overly sugary stuff, fried foods and refined carbs. Drink green tea. And DON'T use off-the-shelf acne medication. Go to a dermatologist and only use what they recommend. I tried all kinds of things before I saw a dermatologist and almost all of them made my face worse. After I saw them they prescribed me two things - a cream for daytime use and a gel for nighttime.

I had acne when I was your age. I tried everything to no avail but I finally went to a dermatologist. One thing he prescribed for me was a topical cream called Retin-A. It was specifically for those little pimples on the forehead (comedones). I had to keep it in the fridge and it smelled like mayo but it worked within weeks of using it. He also prescribed pills (can't remember the exact ones but it was the most basic kind) for the acne on my cheeks and it also cleared me up fast. Once I was clear, I stopped taking it and I've never had to go back.

Though I don't have acne, I have some light scarring from several small pimples I got that's not fading away, in my nose/eye area, it probably got oily. Not sure what it is, but I do know drinking tea keeps the skin soft and hydrated and stress can bring on acne too.

The dermitolgist can tell you for sure. I havenever used soap on my face and use Witch Hazel which is like alcohol, but not as drying. I make certain to drink 10-14 glasses water daily, no pop, and plenty of fresh fruits & vegys.
