I hate when people do that. Now I know three friends who are in this cycle and sometimes when they randomly call or text me about their issues with their partners I just roll my damn eyes.

I'm not sure I quite get what you want to discuss. Is it the fact of when friends get into relationships, they neglect their friends? Or is it when they vent to you about relationship problems, you give them the awful truth from the outside looking in and when they disagree they stop talking to you?

My best friend of 30 yrs is lesbian and she does me like that or she calls me on her way to work at night so her "girlfriend" doesn't know shit like that I still love her like a sister though, but she does me like that. Oh ok. Well yeah I have a friend like that. What's funny is that before she met her current boyfriend, she would complain to me about one of her friends that wouldn't call her much or want to hang out because she was with her man all the time. Then when my friend met her current man, she did the same thing to me! She only calls me if they have had an argument or if she's going through a rough time. Never call to just say hi or just to see how I'm doing. Every time she calls its about something SHE'S going through. I understand that folks need to vent every once and a while because I have to sometimes too, but don't let that be the ONLY reason why you remember my damn number. Then if I call her, she'll say she will call me back and never does....that is until something has gone wrong in her life. So I've stopped calling her.

Honestly this is the story of my life. It has happened to me so much that I now respect it as the norm...tho I've never neglected a friend for a new relationship. Surely you can't expect your friend to be AS available to you once they get into a relationship, but there IS a middle ground somewhere that few 'friends' look for when they're 'in love'.

I think that when you feel neglected or taken for granted you have to be fair to your friends and let them know. If they are truly your friends they will take that into consideration and make changes as best they can. If I knew for sure I had a friend who would be there for me through thick and thin, I would treat them with that respect and be careful not upset a sure thing over (what could be) a fleeting thing.

I said, "Yes you do... and if you are calling to see how I am doing you wouldn't do it at damn near midnight when I got to get up early to take care of my kids... so what is this call about? AND Don't say its about that trifiling married man you sleeping with."

YUP... bitch stopped calling my ass. I had several friends who were humping married men and always called to complain. They all stopped calling me.

I like playing asshole to selfish people.

My sister even called me to tell me how hurt she was that her guy didn't want her back after she dumped him. Even told me she wanted me to look at the new ugly girlfriend he has.

That his new ugly girlfriend didn't have a thing on her. How she could easily win him back.

My response to that?

"Naw sis... I don't think so, since you are so gorgeous and he is now with an ugly girl... that means he REALLY REALLY loves her if he is willing to date someone who looks like that after dating you. You must of taught him that looks means nothing by being a bitch to him. Yeah, there is NO way you can win him back because she has his heart and she doesn't have to be pretty to keep him."

That would be the last time my sister called me to speak about her relationship with any man.

I was actually being honest with her though, and I stand by every word I told any friend, brutally honest is a specialty of mine.

I got caught with that happening to me one time too. Like really WTF? I only answered because I thought it was an emergency...car broke down, immediate family member passing, etc. But no you calling me, crying about the same selfish fucker that you don't have enough sense to get rid of.

Girl I completely feel you this!!!

I remember back in undergrad, I knew this girl. She, me, and this other girl used to attend the same calculus class. Now we used to go on the weekends to the movies, go out dancing, and we'd have a great time. Until she met him...

Now the guy was very nice and it seemed kinda cute at the beginning. But then she just started texting him...all the darn time. Even when we were at the movies. It got to the point that one time, when we were in the car, I was so fed up I said to her "You open that phone one more time, I'll throw it out the damn window. You're with us right now to have some fun. This guy'll be there tomorrow..." She didn't open the phone again.

But still, I mean....the hangouts became few and far between and this guy slowly took priority in her life. So I said "eh, whatever". Now she's marrying him and I probably will see even less of her.

I mean seriously, I just found the whole way she went about it very rude, especially since we've been there for her and the moment this guy came in, she completely forgot about us.
