July trying to wax philosophical. "Life as seen thru the eyes of the spirit. Once the love of life is felt all will be able to express it at anytime. Once is never enough when a spirit seeks the truth and the peace of mind. That is love and that is truth, and that is something no one can give you. It is found in the deepest thought of your souls desire. When you know who you are. It makes everything alright. Once there was a thunderstorm and it made the lights go out, but the silence of night made it's own light. Quiet is a sound."

You need not leave your room. Remain sitting at your table and listen. You need not even listen, simply wait, just learn to become quiet, and still, and solitary. The world will freely offer itself to you to be unmasked. It has no choice; it will roll in ecstasy at your feet.

Sorry to be a pedant but Madonna was quoting De Sade. This was part of his argument that consent should not exist. Hmm.

Ahhh...no this is good! It's important to give due to the creator...sorry that I relied on a website to give it to the wrong person.

Thanks for pointing that out.

Our doubts are traitors and make us lose the good we oft might win through fearing to attempt.

William Shakespeare, Measure For Measure.

Wish I could put it into practice!

God no! When Madonna said it in "Justify My Love", horny It basically just meant that you should be able to do taboo stuff, and not worry about what anyone thinks. Do what makes you feel good. Have you seen the video? If so, it's pretty easy to get the meaning of the quote lol

Well, De Sade wrote that he believed all of us should have unrestricted sexual access to each other as and when we pleased. Some see him as a proponent of free love and others just see him as bitter old failure trying desperatly to shock society. I've only read snippets of his stuff but it all seems very pompous, long-winded and predictable in it's crude attempts to be outrageous. I'll probably get some outraged posts from some pretentious fetishist who thinks De Sade is God but I just found him dull and arrogant.

Good call. I know no more about De Sade than you, but I get the same impression. Unfortunately, it is even more common these days to find people like him. Shock value, specifically.

To laugh often and love much;
To win the respect of intelligent people
and the affection of children;
To earn the appreciation of honest critics
and endure the betrayal of false friends;
To appreciate beauty;
To leave the world a better place, whether by a
healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition;
To know that even one life has breathed easier because you have lived, that is to have succeeded.
