CB Radio the precusor to the internet?

I was just watching a episode of Good Times and Michael was talking on the CB radio, giving a handle name, talking 2 a female over the radio, talking about meeting up etc ...

sound like the internet to u? 4 those that don't either remember or know but CB radios was a national it not worldwide trend back in the late 70's.

thoughts?

man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

Yeah, I guess you could compare talking on a CB with your friends to being in a chatroom.

CB handles were/are like usernames. They even had their own "LOLspeak" in the "trucker lingo" that was used

Hey L4! Hadn't really thought about it, but you're right. I remember my father used to sit up all hours of the night talking with truck drivers (which really were about the only ones that really used it). You could sit and listen to all kinds of conversations. When he went on to chat he used several codes - like 10-4 (everythings OK), or would you 10-9 that (repeat message), or what's the 10-13 up there (weather?) or my 10-20 (location) is the great white north and of course 10-28 (gotta go to the bathroom). Kinda like verbal texting.

I used to love talking on the CB. I would get on there and disguise my voice as a woman and talk to the truckers. I'd call myself the Mother Trucker and tell them I was a lot lizard. A lot lizard was a truck stop hooker. I'd get those motherfuckers all worked up and horny and get them to describe their dick to me in graphic detail. One of them saw through my voice though and said..."I don't think we're talking to a Lot Lizard. I think what we have here is a Bend Over Billy". falloff
