Has anyone ever had this happen?

A few nights ago I was sleeping and then suddenly it felt like someone was bothering me. Like getting all up in my face, pushing on my back...just fucking with me.

I do not know if I was half asleep at this point but I'm pretty sure I sat up and said, "Stop it, leave me alone". I remember being angry, not scared but really pissed off. But I also clearly remember thinking that something was around me...messing with me but I saw nothing. I was definitely alone.

It actually continued, I swear I could feel pressure on my back, my chest, and that feeling of someone trying to irritate me.

But eventually I feel back asleep. I'm positive I was not dreaming but I am not positive that I was fully awake.

It hasn't happened since.

I'm emotionally drained and very stressed at the moment and I wonder if my mind is playing serious tricks on me.

I have never believed in ghosts and still don't but I'm telling you...this shit felt so real...I was almost convinced something was actually there.

on my back.

in the beginnin i was afraid, it was scary

and i was told i had a 'witch' on me by my

grandmother. she said if i let it scare me

it would always come to scare me, but otherwise

they are just a nusense(sp) (a bother)

under the clinical, it's kinda whut they call a 'psycic attack'

Kind of.

One time, my wife and I had to catch a 6:00 AM flight, so we went out to our car at 5:00 AM. It was parked outside our townhouse, and it turned out there was a thief inside our Suburban at that very time.

When I opened the driver's door, he yelled and jumped out the passenger door, and ran away. I yelled at him, and went in and set off our home alarm, but none of our townhouse neighbors ever came out.

However, the cops DID come. A young lady that lived across the street had called them. Now comes the weird part.

I did not know that young lady, but I ran into her six months later. She was on a date with a friend of mine. When I told my friend the story about the car break-in, she turned white as a ghost and said, "You're the guy!"

It turns out that she had been sound asleep that night/early morning, and then all of a sudden she awoke with a bolt. She just KNEW there was trouble, and her first thought was that something had happened to her mother out in California.

But then she quickly realized that the trouble was near by. She thought there was someone in her condo so she grabbed her baseball bat and walked downstairs.

Just as she got downstairs, she heard one guy yell, and then another. Yep - that was the car thief, and then me. She saw the whole thing.

Some premonition had woken her up about two minutes before I even left my townhouse to go to my car.

Weird, but true.

Possibly night terrors or sleep paralysis...?

In addition, the paralysis may be accompanied by terrifying hallucinations (hypnopompic or hypnagogic) and an acute sense of danger.[9] Sleep paralysis is particularly frightening to the individual because of the vividness of such hallucinations.[8] The hallucinatory element to sleep paralysis makes it even more likely that someone will interpret the experience as a dream, since completely fanciful or dream-like objects may appear in the room alongside one's normal vision. Some scientists have proposed this condition as an explanation for reports of alien abductions and ghostly encounters.[10] A study by Susan Blackmore and Marcus Cox (the Blackmore-Cox study) of the University of the West of England supports the suggestion that reports of alien abductions are related to sleep paralysis rather than to temporal lobe lability.

I've had night terrors and sleep paralysis since I was a kid. It doesn't happen often (anymore), but it's horrible when it does. Fortunately, I've gotten so that I can wake myself up when they happen.

You could have possibly answered your own question , it's probably just stress & you're over worked & thinking way too much . Maybe someone angered you & it affected your sleep . This happens to me as well , but my only solution is say another prayer & go back to sleep .

Sounds like some kind of paralysis to me.

I've had it twice, but differently. I was conscious but my body wasn't - I tried to move, but I simply couldn't. I was quite afraid, but after 5-10 minutes it was over.

I've heard about paralysis where you can actually move and are almost completely conscious, but a part of your brain is still dreaming, which can cause you to feel things (even on your body) that are not really happening.

I don't know whether there's something you can do about it, but I believe simply knowing that it's something easily explainable and scientific (although it's still unpleasant) might make it easier to deal with it and fall back asleep more quickly if it ever happens again.

All the best hug

My mother had something very similar to your situation happen to her. She felt pressure on the front part of her body as she layed face up, completely unable to move. She believes it was something/someone trying to get at her.

My experience was a bit different, I was conscious and unable to open my eyes or move. My whole body felt numb and I was terrified. The numbing sensation slowly disappeared and that when I was able to move again. Went to the doctor and was told I was stressed.

Ok, that's nuts! I can't believe this actually happened to me but it makes sense. I struggle to fall asleep every single night and I felt like it happened as I was trying to fall asleep.

The other thing is that I wasn't afraid at all, I was upset and angry and couldn't believe that this thing was bothering me when all I wanted to do was sleep.

This sounds like classic sleep paralysis or "night terror" sometimes the you do wake up and move suddenly but swear that everything before that was real too. You can be in the state of paralysis but be dreaming you are speaking or calling for help. I think different people experience it in different ways. I used to get this in the mid 90's. Hated it!

Although they might be two different things: http://www.trionica.com/a...errors.htm

I did go through a spell where I would wake up not long after falling asleep and swear I was looking at an intruder in my place just frozen and staring at me because they were surprised to be caught by me waking up. One time it was clearly a girl in a hoodie. But after a few minutes it would resolve into a shadow on a door, or a distant shower curtain through an open door. But for those moments, I thought it was real and was getting ready to fight.

Yup - it always happens in "twilight sleep." You absolutely feel like you're awake - in fact, it takes some time to realize that you aren't (if you do, at all). It's usually at that point that the dream takes a turn toward the terrifying for me - and I struggle to wake up.

I'll tell you about a weird dream I had... that continued when I awoke.

I was taking a nap, this entity (shadow) was circling over me then floated to the foot of my bed then tried to slam in to my chest. I got angry and shoved back, and the shadowy thing tried over and over to back up and slam back into my chest trying to get into my body, each time I would say "STOP IT! I won't let you in!" It kept at me until I spoke the words "Jesus... help me."

and the shadow pulled back and I saw a face of an angry woman and she floated out my room. I jumped out my bed to chase her into my living room. The shadow was fast but she hit the wall by the cluster of pictures I had framed in the wall and the picture with me and my children in that picture was shaking. That was the ONLY picture that was shaking no other. It was the pitcure in the center of other framed pictures. It was in a wooden frame. It fell to the floor, but the glass didn't break. No other picture fell, it jumped off the wall from the shadow's disturbance and there were other pictures under it. Those did not fall.

I picked up the wooden frame and it was hot to the touch, I dropped it and I had to run my hand under cold water. The burn wasn't too bad.

I awoke during the "attack", I could move and I can NOT explain any of what happened except to say it was weird and it might have been a demon that tried to enter me while I was alseep. I don't remember exactly when I woke but I was awake when I said "Jesus help me".

I just prayed after and I was straight. shrug Had several weird episodes happen to me that I absolutely can not explain. This is why I believe in a God, and a spiritual world within our physical one.

I really burned myself on a wooden frame and it was not some paralysis. I can not explain why the wooden picture frame was hot.... but whatever.

Erin - I've been experiencing the same thing for years, since I was 16. Their are so many different sleep disorders - some apnea, some sleep paralysis etc. etc. but what you are experiencing is NOT paralysis - as you know yourself or you are fairly certain that you were awake and moving. I can assure you that you were.

I experience this in times of stress, even when I don't think I'm stressed - it shows up - and I then admit the stress. That's the pattern. I actually have a running diary on what I call 'my visitor'. Seems creepy, but as you say I can't see anything, only feel it as an annoyance. I am not afraid of it, nor does it try to deliberately disturb me. I am extremely aware of it when it shows up and over the years I have done some crazy things to accommodate it. I sometimes feel sorry for it, that I have taken up too much of the bed...and I move over for it. I feel sometimes I have stolen the covers and I get up and get it a blanket. The craziest thing is that when I'm in the closet getting the blanket or pillow, I am not dreaming, I am up and about, but I'm also extremely aware that what I am doing is crazy futile because nothing is there...but upon waking in the morning, I WILL remember that it was there...I will remember that I got up and I do see the extra pillow and blanket. I too have spoken and asked 'what the fuck do you want'? I know it sounds 'crazy' but the brain is such an incredible stew of electricals and chemicals - anything can happen really. Erin, in all my years of it, I am relieved to know that someone else has experienced the EXACT same thing. Not paralysis, not apnea but rather a quiet but annoying visitor. Trust me girl - it's stress - nothing more.

omfg

Wait...so, the part about you running into the living room...you were AWAKE then?!

shake

I've already mentioned on here the episode with my daughter being visited by her just-dead great-grandfather...that alone makes me a believer of the "unknown".

shake

I experienced this "sleep paralysis", if you want to call it that, myself twice. On both occassions I awoke to feel as if someone were standing over me, and I was terrified. One time I saw in a dream a glowing orb float from the closet over towards the bed and when I awoke I had the paralysis thing. On both occassions, I said the Lord's prayer & some Hail Mary's until the thing went away.

I can accept the scientific explanation of the stress, apnea, etc., causing some sort of paralysis...BUT WHY does it trigger that feeling that you get when someone is standing next to you???

So scary! Yes, there is definately a spiritual world. Your story reminds me of a something that happened to my ex mother in law, she awoke to find a dark figure leaning over her, she said something about Jesus and it disappeared. She's not the type to tell stories, in fact, she's never even told any ghost story or anything of that nature. She said after it happened she went into her living room and her lights all began flickering, then some crazy shit started happening with her appliances in her kitchen. She's very spiritual so she said a prayer and then just went back to bed. It never happened again and that was the end of it.

I was scared, but acted as if everything was OK in the morning. The only reminder besides a minor burn was that damn picture on the floor. The kids woke and saw the picture on the floor and I was like "Don't touch it!"

I left that frame on the floor in that spot for like 3 days and finally got over it and just hung it back on the wall. I felt like a total weirdo and glad it was over. I just thought that I should pray more and read my bible more after that.

I got annointing oil and went on and said protective prayers over my kids and home. Everything was cool after that, never happened again. That was about 7 years ago.

I seriously think I would pop a headful of grey hair if that ever happened again. shake
