I always play rough with my cat Minaz. He usually tears my forearm up pretty bad! Well two days ago, we had a session and I escaped with only four scratches. I wake up today, and one of the scratches is really swollen and red and hot! The pain is from my elbow to my wrist. I spoke with a friend today, that told me I might have blood poisoning! Do any of U fellow cat lovers have any advice? I'd hate to go to the ER for an infected cat scratch, but I don't want it to get any worse! Help please!

I have no idea what blood poisoning or if that's something specific to cats but if there's some considerable pain happening and combined with redness/swelling and heat... you should probably get it looked at.

GET IT CHECKED OUT TODAY. i kid you not. this is a big deal and that infection should be taken very seriously.

Well I went to the ER this morning with my Popeye arm, and they told me that I have a Rue infection also known as Cellulitis. Which is basically an infection under the skin. They did some culture samples and put me on a few antibiotics and vicodin. I'm in so much pain right now, I need to pop a couple of those and hope the pain and swelling are gone when I wake up. I don't think I'll play with my cat so rough next time!

It's good that U went 2 the ER. When a cat is in fight mode...they dew let a toxin out of their claws.

If U start to get a red line goin' up or down u're arm....Super Infection. Take all Antibiotics and..

Continue to play w/putty cat...it was only in protection mode.
