Lamar Odom, Mavs part ways

Lamar Odom's brief and bumpy ride with the Dallas Mavericks has come to an abrupt end.

The Mavericks and Odom spent Easter Sunday working out a parting, according to sources close to the situation, that frees the struggling Odom to leave the team immediately without actually being released.

I'm sorry that things didn't work out better for both of us, but I wish the Mavs' organization, my teammates and Dallas fans nothing but continued success in the defense of their championship.

His life is lived on levels for which I have no experience whatsoever.

I can't imagine what it's like to be a professional athlete on a world championship team, while at the same time being the focus of a reality TV show and all the tabloids.

His connection to reality has to be tenuous at best.

Dude is mentally soft. I know he's had some fucked up shit in his life, but damn, get it together.

Odom's always had problems like this, and not for no reason. But I think when he demanded a trade he was really demanding some type of reassurance that the FO still valued him -- and they answered him by shipping him away. His age and cap number were too high for the FO.

RodeoSchro is right -- he's got a lot on his plate. But he and LA have missed each other this season. It shows in them both.

Apparently, it was some bad blood between Odom and Mark Cuban, the Mavs owner, which led to his abrupt departure.

I don't think I would call it "bad blood" (which to me implies that it was personal).

Mark wanted Odom to perform or at least put in an effort and Odom didn't do that all season. You can't expect to get paid in any profession without putting in the work. Personal issues or not, Odom never seemed to take it serious. Mark confronted him and asked him if he was up for the job and Odom wasn't.

Granted all of this built up and finally boiled over during halftime of a game, but still he wasn't doing is job = he's got to go!

The man is clearly experiencing PTSD and it has affected his game. He needs a vacation and some counseling.

Maybe this provides some tiny bit of back story: seems the adjustment could really be too much, and being stuck in this family? Kris Kardashian is probably pooping her pants over her son's loss of pecking order in the world of sports. His wife seems to be very suppottive of whatever comes her husband's way, but the rest of those people? Dealing with his age issues and them on top? Ick.

Kareem Abdul Jabbar wrote a nice little article on Lamar on his Facebook page. I´m not really a fan of Lamar but I feel so sorry for him.

His mother in law seems to be a horrible person ( I don´t watch that show but that episode you posted was enough for me.....the way she speaks with her husband.

And WTF is up with Bruce Jenner´s face? He looks horrible. Terrible botox job, and don´t get me started with those eyebrows.

And why did they, of all people, discuss going to Turkey? Kim protested against being on the magazine cover of the Turkish edition of Cosmopolitan and they also had issues with Kobe Bryant´s commercials for Turkish Airlines because of the genocide in 1915.

Weird people...just a very, very strange family.

I like my job and I´m quite happy where I am but I wouldn´t mind a full time husband job in L.A.

I´d make her horrible mama happy, too, if that´s what it takes. It would add some drama to that boring reality soap, too.

Yeah, Khloe comes off as the one in the whole group of Kardashian women that actually has some sense, good character, solid ethics and so on. She's the one normally setting the older sisters straight on how to be less elf centered and vapid, and I have seen her curse her mother out on more than one occasion on the show when Kris gets too deep into her marital business and going on about her and Lamar's "brand".

I remember once Lamar was injured during a game, and Kris freaked out because Khloe staying behind to see the doctor with him meant that she couldn't show up in solidarity to support Kim in a party she hosted in Vegas. She wasn't even contracted to be there, but mom freaked out. Khloe literally asked her mother on the phone "Are you fucking retarded??? My husband is being taken to the hospital because he's injured and you're asking me why I'm not rushing to fly out to one of 100 parties we'll attend this year in Vegas??? Are you kidding me??? " It was the only time I've ever seen anybody shut Kris up

About Turkey, when there was the NBA lockout and the players couldn't work, Lamar got an offer to play for Turkey. His wife was actually trying to be understanding and supportive and was struggling with it, but then she finally opened up & explained to him what it meant culturally for her as an Armenian, and so he rejected the offer. You know, we ignorant Americans don't really know that much about other cultures' historical ties and relationships outside of American soil because we focus so much on being a melting pot, so I thought it was an interesting episode in that he learned something new about his wife and her heritage, which isn't so bad.

Dying laughing at you making that miserable power hungry witch of a mother of theirs happy Poor Bruce, Kris is so conniving she used to grind up sex enhancers into all his beverages and wouldn't tell him. Poor guy was walking around on national television not understanding why he had to get his jollies off every 5 minutes, and only found out when the son drank from one of his drinks and had to be rushed to emergency for something like an allergic reaction. Bruce's wife totally didn't get why it was humiliating to him or how she could have hurt her own kid. But you know, Kris loves a tall dark and handsome man, and from what she's revealed in her recent memoirs about her love of, er, um sex,- maybe you could sneak in there & make her really happy if you want to secure a place in that nutty ass family
