They wouldn't price match an iPad for me, I couldn't believe they were turning away money! I ended up buying at Microcenter

iPads are extremely thin on profit margin, so that doesn't surprise me. It's possible they weren't turning anything away and could have taken a loss to sell to you at a lower price.

If someone has a "sale" on them, it's most likely they've lowered the price to get you in the door in hopes you buy other stuff to make up the difference.

How pathetic.

When I was age 16 I knew who Count Basie, Bessie Smith, and Duke Ellington were because I would go to the library and read music publications cover to cover; and then I'd research composers and artists from decades past by checking out their bios.

The next generation is so culturally unaware that it frightens me.

Horrible customer service... if you get a sales associate to help you don't let them go are you'll never get any mo' help. lol

The Best Buy in my area stays packed and you see folks walking out with stuff but I put down Best Buy a long time ago. In terms ofaccessories / software they never have anything I'm looking for. Still, I get tired of having to order most of my tech stuff online, there are times when I would love to walk in a store and walk out with whatever I need.

Good riddance to them. They weren't shit anyway. The only music they had was music from huge name stars that any music lover would already have in their collection. They used to have a nice selection of DVDs of TV show seasons and then they reduced it to mainly TV shows, both old and new, that are currently on the air. Who in their right mind would buy something that is on the air nowadays that they could record for free?

Their electronics are absolutely horrible also. I had a JVC stereo receiver that I bought at Rex in 1994 and it lasted all these years until two years ago. Rex is now out of business and so is Circuit City. The only thing left is Radio Shack (I never liked the brand Realistic) and Best Buy. I went to Best Buy two years ago looking for a receiver. The majority of the receivers had all these features I will never use such as being capatible with being a home entertainment center for TVs. Yeah, those are nice features but they also drive the price of the receiver up and it's not worth it considering I will never use those features. Hell, I have an old TV with a converter box on it and am fine with it. I was looking for a receiver plays music. I also wanted one that had RCA jacks and a ground wire jack in the back for a turntable in case my mixer dies on me in the future. The hell with all those other features. That left me with only two options. A Sony which costed over $300 and the Best Buy brand called Insignia for a little over $100. I be damned if I'm going to pay $300 or more for a simple receiver and I never have liked Sony brand anyway with their monopoly ass and they aren't that good a product anyway. I have a Sony DVD player that darkens if I try to plug it into something and make a copy of a DVD and I have a cheap DVD player that doesn't. Sony is also in the music and movie business so they have their reasons for all this copy guard bullshit and I don't want it on my equipment because I'm going to make copies. lol All I planned on spending on a receiver anyway was around $150 and if Rex had still been around, I would have had a selection to choose from at that price.

Good riddance to Best Buy. They're a monopoly and they deserve to go out of business.

That's another one I'd like to see fall. Since they have become the "Superstores" that have groceries also, so many grocery stores have gone out of business and they have also driven all the other discount stores out of business except for Fred's and Roses. I'm a person that hates shopping and when I need to pick up a few items, I want to be able to park pretty close to the door, buy what I want without waiting in long lines, and be gone in about 15 or 20 minutes. I have no desire to spend that amount of time in just looking for a parking place and then spending two hours in the store afterwards only to leave with hardly nothing because they don't really have much of anything anyway except for necessities like soap, shampoo, etc. which I now get from Dollar Stores.

Because media was very diverse back then. It wasn't just for Romper Roomers. We didn't have reality bullshit all over the airwaves on TV and when it wasn't during prime time hours, TV didn't fill up the airtime with infomercials. They filled it up with old movies, old reruns, or local programming. We had three networks and we had 50 times more variety than what's on the 100 channels these days.

Radio would throw in an old song from time to time. We first became aware of an old song in it's entirety, not from being used in a sample in some no talent new artist's song. We had a lot of variety shows on TV also such as Sonny and Cher, The Carol Burnett Show, The Flip Wilson Show, Tony Orlando and Dawn, etc. that had new, as well as old guests, on the shows. TV shows were constantly making references to old actors such as Catherine Hepburn, Humphrey Bogart, etc. We may have never seen them, but we were sure aware of who they were because of all the references to them in current shows at the time.

Well that explains it. All excellent points, and food for thought. This was a very insightful response.

Sad to see that one in the Inner Harbor closing sad . It just opened like a couple years ago.. the Filene's Basement that was connected to it just closed recently, so once Best Buy is gone that whole newly-rebuilt area will be dead! disbelief

I hate to see businesses closing up downtown. It emphasizes how dead this city is sometimes.

If you will, so will I
