"Someone above mentioned the Scholastic books order form you'd get in school and where you could place orders for books to buy...I used to LIVE for those! I was a total bookworm all the way back to very early childhood, and those Scholastic book orders were one of my favorite things. I loved it when I'd come into class and see that brown cardboard box sitting on the teacher's dest with the little blue open book picture printed on it. I knew what that meant!

Sitting through class until the teacher handed out everybody's books used to be torture. lol "

OMG I haven't thought of that book for so so long!

I can't recall exactly which grade it was in, but my teacher read that book to the class and after that I read it myself at least a few times.

This thread is sure bringing back some good memories. smile

"James & the Giant Peach" is *still* one of my favorites, as I am a big fan of Roald Dahl and ALLL his books. (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator, The Witches to name a few).

Does anybody remember a book about a lady who wanted a child, so she ordered one from someplace and this little boy was delivered to her in a tube? I know that description sounds weird but it's about all I can recall about the book, though I do remember I read it quite a few times when I was a kid. I really loved it. I *think* the title of the book was just one word, and was the name of the little boy in the story, but I'm not sure about that either. I sure wish I could remember what the name of that book is.. confused

How about those Mr. Men books? Those were my absolute favorites! My favorite was Mr. Rush, but I dug Mr. Muddle, Mr. Nervous and Mr. Strong too. I absolutely hated some others like Mr. Silly and Mr. Nonsense.

I read 'IT' by Stephen King when I was 12. It took me three nights, then I finished the 600+ pages.

IT is one of my favorite books of all-time! I've read it five times. I think I first read it when I was 13 or 14.
