I once said on here that I didn't know any guy...

that wasn't cheating on his gf/wife...and I sooo got shit on for making such a ridiculous claim.

Well now...

Ashley Madison Fingers Ottawa As Capital Of Infidelity

There’s something about government towns and extramarital affairs.

A new study by Ashley Madison -- a dating website for people who want to cheat on their significant others -- found that Ottawa leads the nation in the number of people looking for a little something on the side.

And according to the website’s research -- which is based on its subscription rates --the same is true in the U...s the pack.

“Ottawa is a city filled with people holding government jobs that are considered mundane and filled with red tape and bureaucracy,” Ashley Madison CEO Noel Biderman said in a statement. “Adding this to their boring marriage or routine sex life may push them over the edge to seek excitement outside their relationship.”

Of the 463,000 active users of Ashley Madison in the past month, some 37,000 were in the Ottawa area -- about 8 per cent of all users, even though the Ottawa area has only about 3 per cent of Canada's population.

Considerably more men than women were active on the site in the past month -- 320,000, compared to 143,000 women.

That capital cities lead the pack in cheating comes as no surprise to Biderman, who told the Huffington Post that it’s all about “what kinds of people get into this kind of work.”

There is “a whole culture of young female interns” in D.C., he said, noting that Ottawa also has a reputation for scandal.

“I’m sure we could find something similar in capitals around the world,” he added.

Beyond Ottawa, Biderman noted that Western Canada is experiencing a boom in Ashley Madison subscribers. Of the top 10 cities for cheating, five -- including Vancouver, Edmonton and Winnipeg -- are in Western Canada. (See the whole list below.)

Saskatoon, Calgary and Edmonton came in second, third and fourth, respectively.

That western trend extends to the U.S. as well, where San Antonio, Texas, took second spot after Washington, followed by Phoenix, Salt Lake City and Oklahoma City -- all western cities.

I still don't cheat on my wife. Never have, never will.

I never cheated on a girlfriend, either.

I know a lot of married men. Some have cheated on their wives, but their number is the small minority out of all the guys I know.

I said it before and I'll say it again - you need to meet a different class of guys.

Well, if they ALL do it, then I would say it's relative.

Like if a man runs naked and takes an animal down with bare hands, killing it by biting it's throat and eating it's guts raw, then he is sick. But if a lion does it, it's perfectly normal.

Like if a man runs naked and takes an animal down with bare hands, killing it by biting it's throat and eating it's guts raw, then he is sick, needs a bath soon and probably should never attend any social gathering or function without proper security measures having been put into place. But if a lion does it, it's perfectly normal, unless that lion happens to be attending a formal fund raising event attended by president barack obama in which case the lion best refrain from biting anything at all lest he make a mess all over his cummerbund.

i couldn't agree more. lions are usually said to be messy eaters

Haha...yeah.

But to be fair, I didn't mean that they all cheated all the time with everyone they were with...it's just that they all admitted to cheating on someone they were with at some point.

I think it's something that most men don't confess so easily, except maybe those douchebag types that brag about it. I think a lot keep their cheating pretty private and just between the them and the person they are cheating with.

Actually, I think it's women that are more likely to confess their infidelity. Come to think of it, I know quite a few women who have cheated at some point as well....but remarkably I have never cheated, never even been tempted to do it. lol

Yeah over the course of a lifetime I would say more than 50% of men and women cheat on someone, married or not (and I don't think it makes a difference if you're married). Almost everyone I know has done it to someone. But not many have admitted to cheating on their husbands or wives. So maybe that does make a difference?

It doesnt necessarily make you a cheater, necessarily. It might mean you were weak at one particular moment. And who has never been weak and made a big mistake?

Of course, some people are cheaters. I think that's bad.

But if you cheat, weak moment or not...you're still a cheater. lol

Don't get me wrong though, I may not have cheated on someone, but I do understand how it can happen. I've been cheated on, and as much as it sucks it's not necessarily a deal breaker for me as I understand that it's not usually just about someone seizing an opportunistic moment.

Sure, I just mean not everyone who has cheated in their lives is a habitual cheater. Just like you might have smoked pot once, that does not make you a stoner.

But in either instance, if you're caught it might not matter whether it's your first time. The consequences might be just as severe.

This is key to not judging others. I mean, obviously some guys are just jerks, but especially when you don't know the details of a relationship, then it's not fair to condemn someone for cheating.

There are worse things that happen every day in non-cheating households.

I agree with this in part. Any relationship can survive infidelity, but for me, it depends on how the cheating went down.

When I was cheated on it was a long term thing where chick was working on getting him next to her for a long time so an emotional relationship grew and he started comparing me to her.

He told me she courted him for years and she won him over. Once I found that out, I knew I had to let him go.

He will never be back with me, what he did was unforgivabe. Don't compare me to some bitch that is stroking your ego to get you. Sure enough, they broke up a year later after all her flattery faded away.

^^ yeah not all cheating situations are "a quickie opportunity", because some women know how to get in a guy's head.

the truth is that there are a lot of men who have the philosophy that you can fuck your friends as long as you don't fuck them over (ME) so whut happens is, one of your friends decides to (knowin dude's bent for multipal partners) spend as much time as posible with said person THEN once havin a menopoly on dude's time expects that then they (female/fuckee) can then cut out the maintainence

that got them that exclusive place.

there's a sayin "you can't make a whoe a housewife"

i guess that's true of any free spirited person. NOW people of a professional bent (no matter whut the

area of said profession) seem to have that artic aire of atraction to interestin people, some have it for people they can dominate...

as for "men are bad" nah...

I AM BAD!!!

and one has to take into concideration that

MEN are cheatin with someone and cheaters

usually cheat with cheaters nod

i am KING BAD!!!
you are NOT...

WHY focus on the GUYS?!?!?

OK...so twice as many men as women were subscribed to this cheating website.

That just means that more women are able to do it without the need of a website.

I think it's probably even in real life. Out of the four couples in my circle who've recent split due to infidelity, 2 have been the guys and 2 have been the women. So in my experience, it's 50/50.

Paintedlady mentioned "long-term"...THAT is the difference.

A man typically cheats with his penis first.

A woman typically cheats with her heart first.

Not to say that's a steadfast rule, but it's the general norm.

Never cheated here either. I don't exactly have pussy falling out my pockets wink. Never really came across a chance to cheat, so I can't say I never would, but I never attempt to create opportunities. I did go with a swinger chick for a bit, but that was a situation unto itself. I have no problems with 1 night stands either...but again...no cheating involved. Loyalty is a quality I appreciate about myself and don't like discounting it....I ain't got much else goin for me...biggrin

Usually, the difference between someone who has cheated and someone who has not is merely circumstance. I don't think most people who've cheated would consider themselves to be typical 'cheaters'.
