Yay! I did it. gave my roommate the good old 30 day!

I will probably regret it in some fashion, but it just wasn't worth the fuckin stress. He was an old friend but I discovered he's just an alcoholic who spends every free night drunk and day off recovering from said drunkeness on my couch. No aspirations to get a job that would afford him a room of his own instead of sleeping on the couch. And indeed drinking and smoking away the $ that would allow him his own room.

I could try to be all Dr. Phil and shit and say I'm not enabling his behavior, but really, I'm just fuckin tired of living around this lump on my couch who would'nt speak 2 words to save Jesus.

Is this thread about me?
As drunk as I always am,
I wouldn't know if I had a roommate or not,
let alone remember if he told me to get the fuck out.

Was he paying you rent or not? Why was he just on your couch? Good for you for making the big step, though.

I think you could've done better. Instead of 30 days, you should give him less than 24 hours to GTFO of your house.

He was paying :sleeponthecouch: rent...like it wasn't 1/2....which is why I will prolly regret it...imma hafta pull in the purse strings so to speak.

He never manned up and took measures to improve his situation. He has a history of skating by, doin the BARE MINIMUM needed to exist. That's cool if thats your M/O....to each their own...but not at my expense.... Get a better job and get your own goddamn room if u need to sleep for 18 hrs. to recover from Your weekly hangover. Try having company over when u have a drunkard sprawled on your couch.

I watch too much People's Court to do that, but not enough to have put any of this in writing. All verbal contracts baby. Which is cook for this situation if u ask me...but Judge Milian would gimme a stink eye for that.

Back to top ramen and baloney sandwhiches. I'll have a better chance at quitting smoking without a smoking roommate though.

I know, I know... :eyeroll: ...smile. My Crohn's disease ain't been treatin me right lately and ny Dr. Is holding my ties to the fire with that issue. It'll never get better if I keep smoking. It's gon' suck but I gotta do it if I wanna stop doubling over w/ pain everytime I eat. Plus the removal if stress from this guy moving out should help too...the threat of isolationism and depression does loom, I just gotta make sure I call a couple people every now and then.

I kinda feel like I'm being an asshole, but dude just sits there like a bump in a log with bo aspirations to be anything other than a bump on a log. I known dude for almost 20 years, but I ain't got time for that kind of attitude in my life. I been down that route for a short period and can't afford to have it around. I don't have a lot goin' for me other than a well rounded mind and a kind and generous nature(I don't look like George Cloony, nor do I have his bankroll). I can't allow to be drug down by summin like this.

I'm also on large doses of steroids right now and I'm scared my mind is blowing things out of proportions, but then I sit down and look at it as objectively as I can and I come to the same conclusion. Who the frick knows.... I think he's depressed or something, but I don't have the tools to handle my problems and help him fix his. Maybe if he had some kind of initiative, or self-motivation, if even just acknowledgment of the issue, I'd be willing.to roll up some sleeves. When I try to talk to him, all I get is a stone wall, digression, or deferrence, followed by unintentionally inconsiderate behavior. I can't help if you insist on a bench seat instead of participating to SOME degree. I can only handle so damn much.

Thanx yall, falettinmeblowoffsumsteam...again...

RodeoSchro

I just met your roommate. He was standing by the side of the road, flagging down cars. I stopped, thinking he was in trouble.

His accent was hard for me to understand, and he did reek somewhat but I thought that was from the quality foods of his native India.

I thought he was asking me for a ride home, and since he moved about in an unsure manner, I thought he was hurt so I obliged. But first we had to stop at the store because he wanted to buy me a Coke. No, he insisted he buy me a Coke, as he said that was how Indians showed their thanks to their new friends. How could I say no?

He came back with a Coke alright - along with 2 40 ouncers. Doctor's orders, he said. Well, that did make sense, but I started to figure this was nothing more than a beer run.

Which, it turned out, it was. I took him back to his house (about 1/4 mile from where I found him) and he offered me Indian food but I turned it down. By now, I'd figured out that his reeking smell was not due to quality Indian food.

I got shut of him pretty quick, and as I was leaving the house I saw three dudes hanging out in the shade of their garage. I asked the dudes about your soon-to-be former roommate and they confirmed he was the neighborhood drunk.

I got out of their before they could make good on their threat to write down my license number and give my name and address to the drunk so that he could have a new friend with a car.

I guess I should have asked up front - is your roommate a 65-year-old drunk Indian guy?

I felt awful when I kicked my lodger out but had to do it for my own sanity if he had stayed I would've had a breakdown. When he had gone the red letters kept coming through the door and he refused to give me a fowarding address. He moved into his girlfriends and due to him being less than careful with his correspondence I packed up all his bills and final demands and sent them on. The shit then collided with the fan

Sorry I digress. You have done the right thing!!

Well, yeah you did the right thing. I'm surprised he ostensibly found nothing wrong with his situation? The fact he had to live with paying "sleeponthecouchrent" is kind of pathetic. Maybe he needs professional help.

I think he dies need help, I've suggested that avenue but it gets handily rejected. When he first moved here, I had to compel him to look for a job. Then I had to compel him to do more than "click" for a job. Many jobs are paper slow only. I literally had to push him out the door to look for a job. That was my first clue and I should have ended it at that. But I had made a commitment for 6 mos to a year to find a job. My other friend found it in him to remind me of this. I figured it was assumed that he had to be "actively" looking for one, not just waiting till day 364 to do summin. And he know I'm on disability and knew how much I get...still he did that to...as much as I let him do it. Even though I get suck often and have health setback...I still get out there and find part-time jobs from time to time when I can to suppliment my disability along legal allowances. God for bid he do ANYTHING but sleep and vegitate one a day off. I understand u make minimum wage and that its worth shit. Find a way to work more than 40 hours...I.e. 2nd job...he is very healthy and can sell plasma...make 200 a month doin that if he did it regularly...but he only ever does it when he runs out.of drinking and smoking money.....goddamn...b-gone with U!

I'm beginning not to feel so bad. Thnx yall
