Serious didn't blow over anything, she just answered your question "what do you guys think?" by answering she agrees about giving your neighbor "the benefit of the doubt" based on personal experience she has knowing someone with a condition that allows them to walk fine on some days, and not so well on others. The person in my building upstairs directly above me walks around with a cane and says she's suffering from a few different illnesses, etc. She gets disability and basically stays at home all day and smokes and watches TV. I smell the smoke and hear the TV through my walls. Anyway, one thing I don't understand is that when I see her out in the street, she always seems to struggle walking, seems like she's in pain, etc. But, here in the building, I hear her walking around upstairs and it sounds like she's walking around back and forth with no problem! One time, there was a maintenance issue in my unit and she came downstairs and into my unit. As soon as I opened the door, she very easily walked around, no cane and didn't miss a beat! WTF!

Am I missing something? She lives alone and sometimes has her sister visit but I work from home and I'm hear a lot and know her routine pretty well. I'm starting to think this lady is possibly scamming for a disability check. Not sure, but I'm not gonna report it or anything.

I just wonder what you guys think? I'm really sick of hearing her stomp around all freakin' day above my head (I wanted to move to the top floor but the units are all taken).

to SCAM the gov. one does not have to continue an act of such proportions too long

so it's not for the check

she lives above you,

so it's not for the best spot in the blg.

so i would go with the part where most of the time she stays in motion

to eleviate the constant pain one feels from bein idle too long.

if your'e a non smoker and you can smell her smokin, THIS may atribute to your

dislike or suspission of her and her activities as it has to be a bother smellin

cigs all day while tryin to concentrate on whutever it is you do.

then too, you may be at that age 25-35 where ones mental makeup tends to move

toward a certain type of paranoia that isn't really evedent until after you go out and

slaughtr everyone in a bar lol

I'm surprised the rental agreement doesn't call for the floors to be covered 80% by carpeting or rugs. Check your own lease to see what it says, and complain to the landlord if in fact the floors are suPposed to be covered. That might provide some noise relief.

As far as the disability claim, I feel that as a society we must all abide by rules in order to maintain our civility. The question is if thi neighbor is faking injury how does it affect you. Are you resentful of the noise or concerned about the potential fraud. If its the fraud I'm sure the is a governmental agency you can contact and express your concerns to and they will hopefully investigate.
If your neighbor is committing a fraud it impacts us all by depleting the established system of $$ that should go to someone who really needs it,and it happens all the time. There are monthly news articles about disability scams, doctors who pay people to fake injury such that the doctors bill for phony procedures etc.

in recent years there have been MAJOR breakouts (esspeacially in larege cities) of bedbugs which

also can infest one carpets. once there has been an infestation, whole complexes have been known

to start strippin the entire complex of carpet do to 'community unity' (visitin your neighbor)

so this may be an issue there geek

I can't comment on your neighbor...

...but the dad of one of my son's classmates got run over by a truck at work. Serious injury. Sued for megadollars of course.

For years he walked around with a cane, struggling to get by.

The minute that the lawsuit was settled and he cashed the check, he got rid of the cane and bought himself a boat.

Insofar as the floors, in many buildings here in Germany, and I can also site instances in the certain places in the US, where certain building fall under a specific type of architecture protected by law and having wooden floors are not only normal, but crucial to preserving their architectural integrity. I personally haven't lived in a flat without wooden floors for 20 years, and have no problem with traveling sounds from footsteps, as clearly is also the case with the neighbors I've met who choose to live in such buildings. It's just what happens if you have wooden floors lol I will admit though, I've also been incredibly lucky over the last 2 decades and have always lived in apartment buildings/condos that were extraordinarily close knit, almost like family communities. With this, people were always considerate of how whatever noise they made affected their neighbors, and if there was ever an issue, it could always be cleared up with a visit & request, accompanied by food or a few laughs over a glass of wine. It always astonishes me that ij most cases that's not the way it works generally, and people always have to go for the hard guy approach lol

there is so much going on in this world that could otherwise use ones attention, rather than speculating if someone is faking an illness.

if the women is faking, her karma will catch up with her. why should this issue matter to you?

go figure .0001 cent out of my weekly income. i can handle it. nod like i said there's so much going on in this world until this one woman who is alledgedly ripping off the system will be caught up with sooner or later if she's a fake. also, it may be that her medical ailment is psychological and or psychiatric, which can prevent her from being employed. and if she's walking constantly this is one of the major signs of mental instability.

oh heck yeah. i once worked on a file where the guy was claiming total disability for his back injury. so we hired a PI to spy on him and obtained photos of mr disability helping his friend move a refrigerator. no limp, no nothing... tons of people try to scam SSI or workers' comp or their insurers

ALSO... the OP assumes she is on disability (SSI) this woman may be on an early retirement pension like my mom is.

I myself am at home during the days and NOT on any welfare, but since I am hispanic single mom and in a rent control unit people ASSUME I am on some sort of government assistance. I am NOT. I also pay through the nose for health care.

Anywho... about assuming shit... is she on anti-depression meds? Bi-polar? Diabetic? Receiving a pension?

You do NOT know... if you want to know why don't you ask her straight out... since you need to know.
