Can anyone tell me why Betthany Frankel is popular? I keep seeing this woman on T.V. and talk shows, just saw something about her on TMZ. I don't understand the interest. She has some "Skinny Bitch" brand that suppossedly has made her 100 million dollars (wtf? I've never even seen it in stores) and I just don't understand who would be interested in this woman. Just another self-absorbed "celebrity" who doesn't DO anything and from what I've seen, isn't about anything either, (except for her skinny bitch product that celebrates her skininess) - So, who's watching and who sincerely cares about this womans life?

I've never heard of her but if shes in a reality show, most likely its cause of a sex tape. The Most Important Thing In Life Is Sincerity....Once You Can Fake That, You Can Fake Anything.

She was on the "Real Housewives of New York", even though she wasn't married at the time. She was the single businesswoman looking for love.
Kept building her business, found a man, got knocked up, Bravo gave Bethanny her own reality show. Got married, popped out the kid. Bravo gave her yet another show. Her main career is as a health food chef and distilled spiris entrepeneur. Looks like she's used her reality show appearances to promote her "Skinny Bitch" drink brand. Sold it and made a ton o' money.
Yes, I watch those Bravo reality shows, ~Using the Fat Albert emoticon 'cause no one else is... ~

She is one of the few who does everything, entreprenueral wise. Completely self-made from the bottom up, not off her daddy/husband/boyfriend's money [Edited 3/16/12 15:22pm]

Before she was a health food chef, Bethenny was a celebrity caterer for small events, exclusive groups, a little bit like what we've seen with Chef Roblé do. She was particulraly popular with music industry people, some crowds in New York's fashion industry, and then she began building a health food bakery part of her business from there. She was in demand as a caterer partcularly as she specialized in whole foods and lower carbs, which the body image conscious fashion and music crowds tend to obsess with. Bethenny was always the one-woman-band behind private catering at a slew of fashion week soirees, celebrity charity events , etc. and then suddenly she was blowing up as the owner of a whole foods "sweetery/bakery". This is how I heard of her before she was ever on tv.
From there she went on to compete in Martha Stewart' version of Apprentice for a coveted spot to work in Martha Stewart Onmimedia, but she lost. Martha Stewart has joked that she made a mistake in firing her.
After that came the opportunity to do RHoNY. Bethenny was divorced but had a steady guy at the time, and represented the Single Girl in New York Starting Over and Wanting It All. She's always been very frank about using the show as a launch pad for her business goals. Having been a New York bartender & branching out into the whole foods chef/catering business & knowing her demographic, she started coming up with non-white sugar sweetened cocktails to satisfy her clients. Cause let's face it, people in music and fashion and all things glamour profession want to stay skinny, but they also like to booze it up to take the edge off. Her cocktails using whole food sweeteners suddenly opened up a whole new world to the lo-carb, skinny mofos who until this point were only imbibing straight Vodka or the occasional red wine so they wouldn't be thrown out of the maintenance phase of their weight plans . Those drinks in conjunction with her whole foods cookbooks made her a celebrity whole foods guru of sorts.
Enter a small deal to bring Skinny Girl Cocktails to life with regional distribution, a hot Wall Street dude she met and got knocked up by, a marriage proposal, a baby on the way, and Bravo never missing a beat to make money of its' franchises...Bim Bam Boom, Bethenny Gets Married/ Bethenny Ever After is born. Seeing her mass appeal on tv she was approached by Jim Beam Global spirits to sell her company for a rumored 120 million dollars. She accepted the deal and remains the "face" of Skinny Girl Cocktails, though she's not in control of the product anymore. Instead of a cookbook or fitness book (like her previous 3), her last written effort was a reflection on life not being over at 40 after all, and going for what you want, and is called "The Place of Yes".
Bethenny Frankel is a hustler who epitomizes the phrase "steady on the grind".
