Non-Christians sporting crucifixes Do you do it? Do you know anyone that does?
I have dangly earrings that came with a bunch of others and they're cute, but I've never worn them though I think I would cause a reaction if I did I have a relative who does it. Not a Christian here, but Jesus rocks [Edited 3/14/12 16:21pm]

I don't know why one would.
I'm not Jewish, so I would never wear a Star of David...I'm not Hindu so I would never wear prayer beads...I'm not Muslim, so I would never wear a kufi....at least not as fashion statements.

I don't have any crosses/crucifixes, fish or anything like that. But I'm so use to seeing people wearing them as a look that I don't think much of it to think they shouldn't wear it.

Sure, I have one that I wear now and then with certain pieces - usually something with lace and/or leather....it's really pretty and that's the only reason I bought it. I wouldn't wear one with Jesus on it though, only because I don't find it nice looking.
I also have traditional Indian Bridal jewelry that is gorgeous and I wear sometimes and I'm sure other items that might be considered religious or cultural.
I just wear what I like. | |

The only burn I'll get is if I'm out all day at the beach and not wearing any sunblock.

Crosses are occult symbols. I don't own any.
Enough said. | |

I hardly ever wear jewelry nowdays but back in the day, sure. Cruifixes are just things.

Just so we're all on the same page here;
This is a cross:
This is a crucifix:
At the end of the day, it's all just symbology, but then that's what makes us HUMAN: our ability to make associations and provoke emotions.
A swastika is just a symbol - a good one even, if you use the Hindu version - but nonetheless I wouldn't wear one simply because of its association and the emotions that it provokes.

A cross is a geometrical figure consisting of two lines or bars perpendicular to each other, dividing one or two of the lines in half. The lines usually run vertically and horizontally; if they run obliquely, the design is technically termed a saltire, although the arms of a saltire need not meet at right angles. The cross is one of the most ancient human symbols, and is used by many religions, such as Christianity. It is frequently a representation of the division of the world into four elements (Chevalier, 1997) or cardinal points, or alternately as the union of the concepts of divinity, the vertical line, and the world, the horizontal line (Koch, 1955).
Written crosses are used for many different purposes, particularly in mathematics.

Me too.
I have one really nice one I bought at a cute little boutique in Athens, GA a few years ago that I wear on occasion and another cheapish one I got for a halloween costume that I've probably worn a few other times besides.
I'm not christian.
Just like what it looks like. |

Ex-Moderator | Oh. And yeah, I wear crosses, but not crucefixes. |

You got that right. I used to wear a dangling cross earring and the things I used to do while wearing it were far from religious. Andy is a four letter word.

I'm a Christian and I wouldn't see it as a big deal if someone did. For any Christian that would be bothered, I dunno, seems like they would be too focused on reverence for the object versus reverence for God and his teachings.

I definitely would not, because it's not a fashion thing to me. it represents something that I don't believe in, and I cannot turn that part of my mind off.
And if I wore something just for looks, I would choose a swastika instead, I think it is a much cooler design than a cross. My Legacy

I didn't really think about the difference between sporting a cross over a crucifix. My cousin was wearing a cross then. The reason it surprised me as a kid years ago was cause other family members wore religious symbols related to our religion, so at first I took it at face value and wondered why she was wearing it since we are not Christian and asked her sister about who told me it was just for style and then I got it, cause she was also a Madonna fan and it was still the early 90's and she sported them in most of the videos of hers I knew at the time, so the fashion reasoning made sense. I know she still wears one but claims she doesn't have a religion, so I got all curious again, and have wondered about whether to sport those earrings I have

I'm a non-non-denominational Christian ( ) and I wear a cross, not a crucifix.

I don't see anything wrong with it. I mean it's just it's a non-offensive (for the most part) symbol that looks nice I think... What you believe in lies in your heart, not around your neck.
I wear crosses from time to time and it is solely because I like how they look.
Two of my favorites, I wore out last Halloween
If you will, so will I | |
