Here is a sketch that has only been shown one time, during the original broadcast during the first season. It was cut out of reruns and syndication. It wasn't even included in the DVD set.

Candy71 revealed some of the new cast members.

Lil Rel

I remember him from a few years back on Bill Bellamy's Who's Got Jokes and seen him last year on Comedy Central. I think he will be good. He has some characters he does in his stand up about his dad, who still talks like he's in the 70s and his mom, who smokes and sounds like a man.

Jennifer Bartels

Never heard of here, not sure of her backgroundas either a stand up or an actor?

Jermaine Fowler

Same as Jennifer, don't know of him.

A fly girl has also been named

Ashley Everett

She is a former back up dancer for Beyonce.

And the maried team of Tabitha and Napolean D'umo will be the choreogropher(s).

Another writer to go along with James Davis and Ian Edwards

Maronzio Vance

There was a Homey D. Clown video game? Interesting. I thought the porno spoof "In Loving Color" was enough, lol.

Will ‘In Living Color’ Make The FOX 25th Year Anniversary Special?

March 27, 20124 Comments

As you already know- because we have been reporting it for weeks- the FOX network is in plans to bring back In Living Color. We heard from our sources that the cast is taking shapethis week as they are finalizing the entire cast for what we hear will be a 2 episode deal, with a kick off reunion show of the past cast members.

You may have heard from other websites (and there were a lot of them) who carried theTommy Davidson story where he mentioned the reunion. He was right because FOX has already contacted all of the past stars including Jamie Foxx, Damon Wayans and Jim Carrey(just to name a few) to make a guest appearance on the show.

What you haven’t heard is that because the casting has fallen behind, the In Living Colorreunion may not make the special kick of celebration that the network is planning with other iconic shows such as Married… With Children and The X Files, both shows which will have their entire casts on board for their reunion specials. The plan is FOX will be celebrating theFOX 25th Anniversary Special with these shows that assisted in launching the network to its prominence of where it is today.

So the question remains, will FOX push the reunion back slightly until the casting is complete or with the network just slot the special to air at a later date? We shall see. Stay tuned as this story is developing daily.

The fly girls cast haven't came out yet. For what I been hearing Keenen wasn't really feeling a lot of the black girls that auditioned. That's why he did another fly girl audition for black girls early this month, He want that J-lo, Lisa Marie Todd, Jossie Harris etc... flavor. Ashley Everett is just a rumor, but don't rule her out.

In Living Color was so hot, that it produced four adult film spoofs. The first two came out in 1992 and 1993, during In Living Color's hey day and it was called "IN LOVING COLOR." It featured characters like Horny the Clown, Sex Marshall Bill, Men on Porn, Fly Girls, Homeboy Shopping Network people and Arsenio Ball.

And apparently there was on last year, called In Loving Color Porn Paradoy. It apparently has nothing to do with the series.

I've seen none of these so don't know if they're any good or not, lol.

EXCLUSIVE-… And ANOTHER Cast Member Joins The New ‘In Living Color’ Special!

March 29, 2012 2 Comments

As we reported earlier, casting is coming quickly to a close and we have now have ANOTHER cast member who is joining the special! As stated, some of the new cast members include Lil Rell Howery, Jermaine Fowler, Jennifer Bartels and actress Kali Hawk. They are set to join the show which is being filmed as two half hour specials for FOX.

But first, let’s confirm some of the reports that have been out there; We have heard that the special is bringing back the entire original cast members including Jamie Foxx, Tommy Davidson, Damon Wayans, and Jim Carrey (just to name a few) for this two half hour special. We also heard that this cast will get a shot of the new talent which will include the new members that we have previously mentioned for show.

Now we just discovered another cast member who will join as a featured player; comedian Henry Cho.

That’s what we have discovered so far, but stay tuned. This story continues to develop.

Henry Cho is a weird choice. He's a veteran and the others are young and unknown. I mean he's 50 years old and the others are in their 20s. He's older than most of the original cast besides Keenen and Damon, lol. Good luck to all of the cast members, I really hope this show succeeds and it will never disappear like it did almost 20 years ago.

Confirmed- ‘In Living Color’ Will Join The FOX 25th Anniversary Special!

April 1, 2012 No Comments

A couple of days ago we were told by several sources that the new special that FOX is producing for their 25t Anniversary was possibly not going to include In Living Color, but was going to include the iconic shows as Married With Children, That ’70s Show, The Simpsons, Arrested Development, and The X-Files. The star-studded evening was to include talent from both past and present FOX series and reunite cast members from some of your favorite shows.

Well, now that has changed. We hear that In Living Color will be added to the special, and will include some of the stars from the original cast. We even heard that actress Jennifer Lopez is scheduled to show and join Damon Wayans, Jamie Foxx, Jim Carrey and the rest of the original-and new- cast!

FOX’s 25TH ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL will be executive-produced by Don Mischer and Charlie Haykel, and will have Juliane Hare to serve as producer and Louis J. Horvitz to direct the special.

Keenen Ivory Wayans started out his brilliant career as a stand-up. So, of course his cast would be filled with stand up comedians. During the Keenen years (1990-1993) All of his male performers started out as stand up comics. Of the females, the two Kims (Coles and his sister) were stand up comics. Kelly and T'Keyah came from stage background and Wentworth from the improv world.

I will name the specials the ILC stand-up did while the show was on the air.

In Keenen's early years, he was known as the best black comic working New York besides Eddie Murphy "quoted by Eddie himself." His first performed on An Evening at the Imprcv but it was his spot on Johnny Carson that made him an up and coming star. But, is was his brother Damon who took over the family reigns as the king of Wayans stand-up. Before his first One Night Stand on HBO just as ILC was taking shape in 89' he had performed his stand up many times on Robert Townsend's Partners in Crime, Solid Gold and even on his current show at the time, Saturday Night Live.

Tommy Davidson Takin' It To DC: Showtime 1991

But is was Tommy Davidson, who was the first with his own televised special. He was first seen a few years early with a great set on Robert Townsend's Partners in Crime. His first special, "Takin' It To DC" was only a half hour long airing in the summer of 1990 on the Showtime Network.

Damon Wayans The Last Stand?: HBO 1991

Later on that year, Damon got his first of many hour long stand-ups on HBO, the highly rated "The Last Stand." As this was to be his last comedy show. Unlike his friend Eddie Murphy (who retired in 1988) he came back in 1993. Two more hour long specials followed, with "Still Standing" on HBO in 97 and and Comedy Central's "Way Out" from 2008.

[img:$uid]http://cps-static.rovicorp.com/1/adg/cov250/drt800/t814/t81476xzgve.jpg?partner=allrovi.com[/img:$uid]

Tommy Davidson Illin' In Philly: Showtime 1991

The next year, two more special aired on Showtime. Tommy Davidson is back now, with an hour long special, the classic "Illin' in Philly" which also debuted in the summer. Showtime would get with him one more time, after ILC was off the air, he was in NYC now for 1996's "On The Strength on New York."

[img:$uid]http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51FMV7FB9BL._SL500_AA300_.jpg[/img:$uid]

Jim Carrey Un-Natural Act: Showtime 1991

James Carrey as he was billed on the show, was now Jim Carrey for his "The Un-Natural Act."This was rare because Jim barley performed his stand up besides a late 80s appearance from An Evening at the Improv adnthe Comedy Store Special.

Jamie Foxx: Straight From the Foxxhole: HBO 1993

A year and a half passed by and the Wayans left the series before a new cast member, Jamie Foxx put out his HBO special "Straight From the Foxxhole." ILC was his debut, so he was never featured anywhere else, but he did host Def Comedy Jam in 1996. 1997's "Unleashed" and 2002's "I Might Need Security" also aired on HBO.

[img:$uid]http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/a/a9/Straight_from_the_foxxhole.jpg/185px-Straight_from_the_foxxhole.jpg[/img:$uid]

Of those five specials, 2 have made it to DVD (Wayans and Foxx), one on VHS (Illin' In Philly) but the other two have seen no releases. I'm really surprised about the Carrey special never making it to a home release.

-----

The other stand ups from the series (Keenen Years.)

David Alan Grier

On his first night ever doing stand up in 1982, he met Keenen. He said that night, Keenen was the only comic who was nice to him and told himwhat and what not to do. They've been friends ever since. He was given a standing ovation on Showtime at the Apollo in 1987. But it would be 15 years (in between hosting Premium Blend in 1999, one of 3 cast members, the other were Davidson in 1997 and Damon in 2005) before his first hour long special would air in 2002 on Comedy Central. "The Book of David: The Cult Figure's Manifesto.

Kim Wayans

After big brothers Keenen and Damon found success in stand up, it was only natural for her to follow suite. She began her career in 1985 performing in clubs around LA like the Laugh Factory. She's currently on a on woman tour called "A Handsome Woman." Sadly, she's never been caught on film.

Kim Coles

Kim began as a stand up after a failed modeling career. Kim made her fame from her many appearances on Showtime at the Apollo in the late 1980s. She's performed on BET Comic View.

Shawn Wayans

He started out as DJ SW-1 on the series, but he'd gotten into the comedy world a few years earlier as a 17 year old high school senior. He's hosted "Comic Come Home" on Comedy Central in 1998.

Steve Park

Before ILC, he was seen on "Do The Right Thing." He started doin stand up for a short period of time in the late 80s and early 90s.

Marlon Wayans

The youngest Wayans did a few hundred stand up shows before he got on ILC and did his first movie role and called it quits until last year as he prepares for his role as Richard Pryor. He co-hosted the 2000 MTV Movie Awards along with brother Shawn.

-----

After Keenen departed, stand-ups like AJ Jamal, David Edwards and Greer Barnes would join the cast as featured players. Reggie McFadden from Def Comedy Jam fame would join the cast in the last season as did very frequent special guest Chris Rock.

SKETCH COMEDY: In Living Color's influences and cast members sketch shows after ILC ...

This little essay will be about performers on In Living Color who went and stared or created their own sketch series.

In Living Color Made it's debut as one of the most brash, in-your-face and controversial sketch shows ever. Keenen grew up watching sketch and variety shows like Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In, Monty Pythons Flying Circus, The Flip Wilson Show and in later years The Carol Burnett Show, Saturday Night Live and SCTV.

Another show featured his favorite comedian, Richard Pryor. This was the short lived but very influential Richard Pryor Show which lasted all of one special and four episodes in 1977. A writer and featured performer on the series would go on the also write for ILC, his name, Mr. Paul Mooney.

-----

Saturday Night Live
When ILC premiered, it was billed as the black 'SNL' by the media. ILC wanted to give minority comics the same opportunities that SNL gave white comics. SNL debuted in 1975 with Garrett Morris and by 1980, Keenen's friend Eddie Murphy was in his spot as the token black guy. With SNL being on NBC, Keenen was also with the network. Keenen had a development deal with them, staring in their short lived series Irene (1981) and For Love and Honor (1983-1984.) That was possibly how his young up and coming comic brother secured a deal with SNL (and being friends with Murphy probably didn't hurt either) as their token black guy the season after Eddie departed.

[img:$uid]http://img2.timeinc.net/ew/dynamic/imgs/090922/SNL/damon-wayans_l.jpg[/img:$uid]
Damon Wayans made his debut as a featured player for the 1985-86 10th Anniversary season. He didn't have any characters make it to the show, none of his sketches got on. He did coin his catch phrase (Mo Money, Mo Money, Mo Money) during an appearance on the weekend update. But by halfway through the season, he had enough. During a sketch he would change his straight cop charcater (who only had one line) to a flamboyant officer him and Keenen would do in their younger days. Loren Michael fired him that night. But I guess there were no hard feeling, the season finale bought him back for a 25 minute set of stand up. He would return 9 yeas later to host as promotion for his film 'Major Payne' and he bought some of his characters from ILC (Anton and Blaine Edwards) and cast member (David Alan Grier as Antoine Merriweather) with him.

Speaking of DAG, he hosted the show twice in 1995 and 1997. Jim Carrey has appeared twice as a host also, first in 1996 and again in 2010. But that wasn't the first time he came through studio 21. He had auditioned in 1980 but was no selected. Jamie Foxx hosted in 2000 and Fly Girl Jennifer Lopez in 2001, even doin a sketch about the Fly Girls.

Chris Rock, was a freqent performer on ILC's last season, he came over from SNL. He was never supposed to be on SNL, as Keenen wanted him on ILC, but the network didn't. Ellen Cleghrne and Molly Shannon both appeared on 2 episodes a piece before gettin on as performers on SNL.

[img:$uid]http://cps-static.rovicorp.com/1/adg/cov250/drt200/t291/t29100objj5.jpg?partner=allrovi.com[/img:$uid]
Robert Townsend & His Partners in Crime
But maybe these late 80s variety specials on HBO where the older Wayans were major parts of, is where ILC got it’s biggest inspirations from. Robert and Keenen had met in the early 1980s both as up and coming comics/actors. Seeing as how Hollywood was; roles were not coming, gigs not coming. They filmed a bunch of sketches and vignettes put it together and titled it ‘Hollywood Shuffle.’ After it became a hit, Robert got a gig hosting The Late Show on Fox (before there friend Arsenio Hall tookover), which Joan Rovers had just quit. Robert bought along Keenen as his right hand man during this stint. With the film and hosting under his belt (along with 2 great HBO performances on Rodney Dangerfield and friend Eddie Murphy's comedy specials), HBO came calling and out of it came his Partners in Crime specials. Keenen wrote and performed in all the sketches in the first installment from 1987 and Damon did stand up, (and Kim was featured also.) By the 2nd special, Keenen had departed (he got a deal with another network and was shooting, writing, directing the film that became I‘m Gonna Git You Sucka! and was c-writing Five Heartbeats with Townsend) but his friend David Alan Grier took his spot in the sketches. Future appearances by Tommy Davidson and the younger Wayans brothers in the 4 specials, and that was almost the ILC cast right here! This series was very influential in stand up series like the short lived Robin Harris BET series (or special, one episode was shown) and later series geared towards blacks like Def Comedy Jam, BET Comic View and Comic Justice on Comedy Central.

While In Living Color was hot, they had heated competition from of course SNL and also the series Kids in The Hall, which premiered aromd the same time (1989) and lasted the same amount of seasons.

Two years after In Living Color was on the air, similar sketch shows started coming out the woodworks. The first was Uptown Comedy Club which was actually syndicated (Fox in Houston) early Sunday morning. You could say it featured a b-team of comics like Tracy Morgan, Jim Breuer, Debra Wilson, Flex Alexander among others. It featured sketches, and from time to time had a guest which would double as a stand up comic and be featured on it’s main attraction, the Yo Mama or Snaps battle. ILC even made a similar sketch in the last season called “Wheel of Dozens.”

Another called Apollo Comedy Hour premiered around the same time. It came on right after Showtime at the Apollo went of the air. It was also syndicated as Apollo aired on the UPN network in Houston. Paula Jai Parker is the only known performer. A sketch from the series was even similar to ILC's "Great Moments in Black History" sketch.

If Apollo could get into sketch comedy, I guess Def Comedy Jam could too. Def Comedy Jam Primetime premiered on Fox in 1994. Cedric the Entertainer, Ricky Harris and others starred in this failed pilot that never got picked up by the network.

But the best of these sketch show was from the guy who may have got ILC’s idea off the ground. What does Fox do after Keenen departs, they get his best friend Robert Townsend that’s what. His show is called Townsend Television in 1993, and it even comes on the same night ILC made it’s fame, Sunday (by its last season, ILC was moved to Thursday behind Fox’s other black shows Roc, Martin and Living Single.) It’s difference, it was an hour long and was slight more Partners in Crime than ILC. It’s was pretty good, but wasn’t given a chance. One and done. John Witherspoon, Eddie Griffin, Paula Jai Parker and Darrel Heath stared.

That wasn’t the first time Fox tried to repeat the success with a sketch show. Actually, ILC wasn’t even the networks first, The Tracey Ullman Show was, which The Simpsons were born from. It ran four season and was the ot's second ever series following Married ... With Children and was just leaving as ILC was coming on board. During ILC's run, two series, The Ben Stiller Show (moved over from MTV) and The Edge (which featured future fifth season cast member Carol Rosenthal.) Both lasted one season. House of Buggin’ was the first to premier after ILC left the network. It stared John Leguizamo who Fox had wanted on it’s final season. It lasted ten episodes. They finally got a show, with MadTV and it lasted 14 seasons, but still with it’s longevity didn’t match what ILC did in a much shorter time period. Debra Wilson from Uptown Comedy Club was in this series. Tommy Davidson and DAG made many appearances in a sketch “Real Mother****in Talk.” Another show around the same time MadTV premiered, was the great sketch series Mr. Show with Bob and Dave which aired on HBO from 1995 to 1998.

Keenen was the first to somewhat venture back into television with the talk show The Keenen Ivory Wayans show on Fox. He did sketches on the show. As it was being canceled, Tommy Davidson joined the struggling Magic Hour also on Fox and Magic Johnson's hype man.

A couple of sketch shows made their premier by the turn of the decade. The Lyricist Lounge Show on MTV and Cedric the Entertainer Presents on Fox. The MTV series which was Tracee Ellis Ross's first show, lasted 2 seasons, but Cedric’s show was quite good. It was given a terrible time slot and even with good reviews, it was gone after one season. Hell, that season didn’t even finish airing. You have to buy the DVD for the six unaired episodes. A series that premiered at the same time, but yet one million more people know of this series, Chappelle’s Show. Probably the closest competition to In Living Color. It had comic Dave Chappelle staring as many different characters like Tyrone Bigums (Anton Jacksons anyone) and featured once again Paul Mooney as a writer and performer. But just like Wayans, Chappelle found obstacles with the network after success. He left before season 3 aired on television.

[img:$uid]http://www.sho.com/site/underground/season1/images/home/flash_placeholder.jpg[/img:$uid]
The Underground
Damon Wayans’ 2006 sketch series was billed as “In Living Color on steroids” while it wasn’t exactly that, it was on steroids. Since it was on Showtime, it could be more vulgar, edgier than ILC. It also stared Aries Pears from MadTV fame and his son Damon, Jr. It was directed by his nephew Damien. There was a few characters reminiscent from the ILC days like a character by Damon similar to Homey the Clown and a woman played by Aries Spears. It only lasted one season.

Chocolate News staring David Alan Grier
In 2008, DAG created a series for Comedy Central as they were looking to replace Chappelle’s Show as Mind of Mencia wasn’t getting the job done. The series had been tossed around as The Davey G Show since 2005 but never picked up. This was a news satire show similar to The Daily SHow with John Stewart, but more in the sketch world. Ratings were mediocre, and was not picked up for a second season after 10 episodes. Key and Peele (both from tha later seasons of MadTV) was the next show for CC debuting earlier this year and was picked up for a second season.

In The Flow with Affion Crockett
A few months before Key and Peele premiered, Jamie Foxx got with the Fox network for a new sketch show he had executive produced and wrote for. Along with comedic actor Affion Crockett, they put a show together. Affion had been a part of the Nick Cannon’s shows Wild N’ Out (improv) and Short Circuitz (a sketch series) both on MTV. It lasted a mere six episodes and coincidently, the day the network announced it would be canceled, they announced the return of In Living Color ...

Unaired Sketches ... and more

In Living Color was filmed on Friday and aired two days later, Sunday evening. Enough time for the network to edit and figure out what couldn't or could get on the air. Some sketches got by the by the censors, while others didn't.

Bolt 45

The first was a sketch from the first season, Bolt 45. It was a take on Colt 45 commercials with Billy Dee Williams. It aired once, and has never been seen again. Fox felt it made fun of date rape. Thankfully the good folks at youtube have it here for us.

The Buttmans: Guess Who's Coming to Dinner

Keenen said the censors were always in the building looking over their back. He'd tell the cast to do their stuff and let me worry about this. An airing of the second installment of the Buttmans was not supposed to go. But the tapes got mixed up and it got on.

Men on Football

The one time they did go on live, was during the 1992 SuperBowl. They really got in trouble during a Men on Films sketch about NFL players and actors. But, the rating were so good, over 10 million, it caused the NFL to really put on a SuperBowl halftime show. And the next year, who else, but Michal Jackson was there.

Those got by the censors. Some sketches didn't.

The Exxon Family

This sketch actually replaced the Bolt 45 sketch in syndication and on the DVD. This was first shown during the fourth season when Keenen was having problems with the network. They started to air reruns on the series on Thursday nights.

Unaired sketches

Here is a list of some sketches that never made it past Friday.

-Sammy Davis Jr sings Mandela

-Fat Boys Appointed to the Superior Court

-Mike Tyson: Hard-Hitting Investigative Reporter

Those are what I found searching the web.

Also, on a Season 3 episodes titled Bloopers, we see a bunch of stuff that didn't make it. There was a sketch of David Alan Grier playing Gary Coleman. There was a recurring character played by Kelly Coffield, Velma Mulholland in the bloopers that never aired?

Also, on the season box sets, a few photos don't match the sketches. One, being a pic of Marlon Wayans dressed in a bear outfit. Another of Tommy Davidson.

All in all, there are many unaired sketches. Hopefully, with the revival, Fox can release some of them.

I seen them all back in the 90's when I was a teen, the best scenes IMO were the Arsenio Ball scenes because he would bang the hottest chics, Keisha, Alicia Rio, Persia etc., in the films. Sean Michaels played Arsenio of course, he also wrote and directed those movies too.
