For old guys like me who actually watched the original show, this is a disappointment.

But most of the movie's target audience has never seen the TV show and does not know it was not a comedy. So I'm sure the the movie will do fine.

But I highly doubt I'm going to like it, or even see it. I don't want my memories of that seminal soap opera ruined in any way.

Without even looking at the trailer, I guessed that Johnny Depp would star in this lol

I would run home from school to watch Dark Shadows.

Look forward to seeing Johnny as Barnabas, a bit more campy should be fun.

I'm going to cut and paste this post when someone starts a thread about the new 21 Jump Street movie.

LOL. That movie looks nothing like the TV show, either.

Where's Greico!?!?

I think it was "In Living Color" that did a spoof on the old "21 Jump Street" and they had two actors looking at each other as the announcer said, "Depp! Greico! Depp! Greico! Depp! Greico!" over and over.

AND Helena Bonham Carter!!

Thank god her hubby gives her work...somebody has to.

I think that was Hit Girl Chloe Mortez at the end too.

She was in The King's Speech. And the Harry Potter movies. She doesn't need her husband's handouts, haha.

Touche lol

I have never seen a Harry Potter film or The Kings Speech.

She was quite good in Fight Club.

Wow.
When I first heard Burton & Depp were making DS, I was really excited. I thought they'd be a perfect fit for an update of this.
Now that I see that it's going to be a comedy,
I'm pretty dissappointed.
I really thought that this had the potential to be something really great.

It looks campy and cheesey, but kind of seemed similar to The Addams Family movies a little (which I loved boxed )

I'll see it definitely. Mainly because Depp & Burton are my favorite Hollywood couple. mushy

If you will, so will I

i have an aunt ... and she was looking forward to this (she is really into vampires) - I gotta say ... doesnt interest me in the least bit .

i never thought BUrton did much .... with any script he had .... I mean the Batman movies should have been homeruns and he just kinda hit softballs ...

I won't sacrifice a single red cent to see this garbage. They've made a mockery of a Gothic classic.

The original "Dark Shadows" movie was awesome.

But DS was well established when the movie came out. To do a proper retelling it would take half the movie just to introduce the characters and their motivations to a brand new audience, try to then work in a plot and its already bordering on 2 hours. It just wouldnt work.
