Requiem for a Dream Has anybody else seen this movie? I just saw it about two nights ago and it is still on my mind. I found it to be horrifying but brilliant. It was so well done and the acting and the cinematography were excellent. Has anyone read the book that the movie was based on?

saw the movie. it's the kind of film that you don't enjoy, but you appreciate how well it's written, acted, directed, etc. it's painful to watch.

I saw this the other night and pondered posting here as well to see if anyone else caught it...but I was too drained to get up and type something out! at the end, all I could think was "damn." Excellent movie...Marlon Wayans definitely took his craft up 5 notches taking on that character. Ellen Burnstyn...she was phenomonal. And the scene that garnered it the NC-17 rating? I was like...FUCK! Addiction is no joke...and to think that this is probably mild when you think of what goes on out there on a daily basis. As on reviewer said, "brilliant film, but a hard pill to swallow (pun intended)." I know that after seeing this, addiction has taken on an entirely different meaning. And, I bought the DVD on Amazon the next day!

Being in recovery, from addiction(s), I found this movie to be an "ALL TRUE, Tell-Tale" experience, Of what happens to people with, shall we say.. GOOD INTENTIONS...(being snide).
I first viewed this movie 1 year ago, it ended I then said to myself, I'm alright,I'm being good, then proceded to clean my place up a bit. If you know of ANYONE with a substance problem, sit down with them & watch it.THEY might NOT have to go as far as in the movie, as I did. If you have seen this movie, get the UN-CUT Directors Version with the DVD Bonus info..INTENSE FISH

When I saw his name on the opening credits I thought that meant the movie was going to have some comic relief but...um...NO! He was amazing as were all of the actors.

The scene that garnered the no rating/NC-17 was one in which Jennifer Connelly went back to the brotha's house for the party he invited her to (the guy she gave head to for the drugs), and without giving up everything, she performed a sexual act with another woman while the men at the party looked and cheered on. It was pretty graphic and brutal. It definitely adds to her condition in the end; how low she went for her addiction.
