They are pretty expensive aren't they? But potent so you need less of them?

I have a friend who has those and always needs to be carried out at the end of the night confused

I've tried one once at TGI Fridays and I liked it OK. Maybe I should make my own! nutty

Well, when I first got a taste for them I was dating a bartender so I drank for free for a good 10 months. lol

Typically, though, they aren't anymore expensive than other drinks at most places. I guess it depends, though. I've had 6 dollar Long Islands and 12 dollar Long islands and the difference/strength tends to pertain more to the bartender, less the recipe.

They ARE strong, though. They are definitely on the more Advanced Drinker's List. lol Which... so are Manhattans (basically just whiskey on the rocks with a cherry).

OK, you would know this with your bartending experience, say you order a whiskey on the rocks and then a Manhattan - how much more does it cost just to have that cherry on it?

lol

These days with the Tea's there is a bottle with all the alcohol in it. Most bars use that cause to get a REAL Long Island is gonna cost a butt load.

I still do enjoy a good old fashion every once in a while but thats another time consumer.

lol Well, its really just tossed with ice and then strained into a cocktail glass.

It's all in the brand of whiskey that makes it expensive... I like Maker's Mark, though.

...don't forget the vermouth and bitters to make a proper Manhattan! cloud9

I love a good bourbon. My favorite, if you can find it:

I typically ask for them to have as little vermouth as possible! lol I can't stand vermouth usually, but a Manhattan is mmmmmmmmmmmmmm.....

RUSTY NAIL!

yum yum gimmi sum!

A scotch a ginger ale is delicious too. 7up, sprite, coke and all that jazz is just to damn sweet. If no ginger ale...just a scotch and soda water will do. But them rusty nails r nice and full bodied drink....really good but can be a bit "heavy" on occasion.

I used to be a vodka pig.

I'm into gin now, but I'm not a pig anymore. Well, with the alcohol that is. shrug

I have a bottle of Hendricks in the freezer right now, and I gotta say, it's much better than Bombay Sapphire IMO. You can really taste the cucumber in it and it totally works. nod

2 nice Belgian abby ales. For those that enjoy the dark or stout beers like Guinness sould look for these two in the local specialty shops. 2 world class beers.
