Without doubt the hardest thing i have ever done

had to be rolled under five times,your trapped upside down and have to swim out of the doors x2

then they lock the doors("they" being the scuba men) so you have to swim out the windows

and then they lock one door so you both have to swim out the same exit,all whilst upside down and unable to breath

phew...........but i did it.

great day...all the ICU flight nurses and paramedics were fantastic

i did it at mechanics bay..down with the wetpac rescue choppers

we use those for our inter hospital retrievals

and the exam was down the st john station in epsom

As a flight nurse in ICU we do a few exams so we retrieve patients on our own (kind of like we have the same skills as an advanced paramedic -but that sounds far manlier !!)

any medical team who flies in a chopper or a wee plane is legally part of air crew so its mandatory training

only 24 nurses and paramedics and doctors get to do it once a year so im pretty lucky

and the money? oh boy....the money!! not a penny more

Thought so. I had my only ever chopper ride from there. Over rangitoto. (a beatiful shield volcano in Auckland harbor) Good luck for the exam.

the lads who do the course are the charge nurse of neonatal ICU and a few of the westpac medics(they fuckin HATE the tv show!! but it gets westpac revenue....amazes me the emergency services in NZ are still funded by rattling cages for a few coins)
