NFL: Let the Peyton Manning Sweepstakes BEGIN!
According to WFAN, Indy & the future HOFamer will part ways tomorrow. No surprise - the Colts weren't paying him all that loot. Miami, SF, Washington, Arizona & NY(Jets) have been mentioned as possible destinations. If I'm Peyton, I'm going to the 49ers. With that defense, he can get to the Super Bowl.

Jerry Jones, where you at?
Romo has got to go! Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

Shhhhooooot. Who wants to be the owner who signed Manning and was responsible for him getting seriously hurt again? I'd worry about a sack going wrong, more than with any other QB.

If I had a neck injury that wasn't properly healing, Id retire and enjoy the rest of my life instead of having it snapped into on a sunday afternoon. The Most Important Thing In Life Is Sincerity....Once You Can Fake That, You Can Fake Anything.

A lot of medical professionals have said he should not play again with that injury. I don't know what he's trying to prove.

Another jock how hadn't planned or doesn't want to hang up the cleats because he can't do anything else. Bryan Gumble HBO, "Inside Sports" has done a series of episodes about football players who never makethe transition to "civilian life", it doesn't matter if they have still have their fortune or not. The bio on Walter Peyton was sad.

49ers or Cardinals would be the best places. Dan Snyder will write him a phat check, but I don't see Peyton playing in cold weather.

Seems 2 me the manning is trying 2 get somebody 2 write a large check................just like last season. This guy is DONE.

It's not worth it to me. I feel bad for the opposing defenses who have to play against him. Everything is going to be a roughing the passer penalty. Even if you look at him too hard.

I was thinking Miami because they're the only team to guarantee money But now after listening to insiders talk, I think he's going to the AFC team that has the best chance to win..(he's not going to NFC to compete against his brother) Houston ...he gets a chance for revenge against Indy twice a year..they're a QB away from the SB...they can say Shaub isn't fully healed..

I doubt very much that Manning is fully healed.

I think numerous channels would pull out a sportscaster chair for the guy. The Most Important Thing In Life Is Sincerity....Once You Can Fake That, You Can Fake Anything.

I agree, he's a personable guy, he could easily do that.
But athletes have a sad and long heritage of playing after quitting time. Probably with him it's harder, because his knees and back and shoulder may be just fine, and he feels like he has some years left. My Legacy

According to WFAN's Mike Francesca, his sources say the Manning family IS looking at Houston. They don't want Peyton in the NFC and possibly face Eli in a championship game.
Houston would be a great fit.

There's two sides to this. If you ask a competent medical professional to look at his charts and ask whether he could play football in the NFL again, he probably would clear him to play. If you asked this same medical professional whether he should play in the NFL again, he would probably say Peyton Manning needs to look at the remainder of his life and hang it up immediately. No one would look at him negatively if he never played another down in football, and he is a guaranteed Hall of Fame selection anyway.

Very true. I never thought about the remainder of their lives or post football careers until "Inside Sports" expose. It's humbling and scary to see the long term health consequences many of these gentleme endure and face. How the NFL tries its best not to pay for many of their medical issues. Even so, many don't adjust to life after football... I'll assume 9 to 5 jobs aren't that much of an adrenaline rush.

WFAN reported the Jets, Broncos and Seahawks have contacted Manning.

I can't see Manning going to "As The World Jets" organization; besides that's his brother's "town."
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
He should go to Texas, Oakland, San fran or Arizona. Everything else is a waste of his time if he wants another championship. This one's for the rich, not all of 'em, just the greedy

According to Charlie Casserly, Miami and Arizona are the leading contenders, with Denver being a dark horse. Peyton said he'll have his decision within a week. Thank goodness - we don't need another Lebron-like circus.

Brandon Jacobs just got released. is that good or bad?

It's a weird week in the NFL. I wish someone would do an intervention for Peyton.

Rams traded their first round pick(2nd overall) to the Redskins. Looks like RGIII will be in D.C.
As for Jacobs, Giants are $9million over the cap. Jacobs is on the downside, and Reese has to make hard choices. Manningham won't be back either. Such is the NFL. You can't bring back everybody.
