If you were a Weinstein... If you were had the deep pockets and connection of The Weinstein Company (or any big movie studio)...
...what kind of movie would YOU make,
- Sci-fi? - Drama? - Romantic Comedy? - Documentary? - OTHER?
...and who would you cast? By St. Boogar and all the saints at the backside door of Purgatory!

Personally, I would like to bring The Dresden Files to the big screen.
I see Hugh Jackman as a natural for the role, physically speaking, but Robert Downey Jr would probably be awesome.
OR
I would like a big-budget, trilogy remake of the DUNE series.
Audiences are more mature now, so the intensity of the story would be appreciated. Plus sci-fi effects could match the visuals presented in the story.
An unknown would have to be cast for this.
It would be epic.

i would do the vampire chronicles and stay closer to the books than the previous trys. with the new CG technology and the rekindled apreciation of the VAMPIRE on matter what i spent i would get back a thousand fold... and like the books, the movies would only get better. i am KING BAD!!!

...they probably do owe their firstborn to Satan, considering how they have their greedy little paws in just about every successful movie in the past decade!!!

Screw the vampire chronicles and bring Thw Witching Hour to the big screen. Hell make it a trilogy. The Most Important Thing In Life Is Sincerity....Once You Can Fake That, You Can Fake Anything.

well, if i had cash i'd bring my own screenplay to life on the big screen. alternatively, if i wanted to make something that would actually sell, i'd make dorothy dunnett's books the Lymond Chronicles into a mini series. or, combine chelsea quinn yarbro's St. Germaine series into a movie, given the public's current love for all things vampire

Since you mentioned that I wonder what Memnoch the Devil would look like on screen, that would be a wild ride. I think I'd like to see Servant of the Bones, I found/find it unsettling especially about the guy's attitude about destroying the world save America and his reasons why, there are a lot of people who think that way. Now to think of it, I would like to make Ms Butler's "Parables" into movie or miniseries. I'm not sure where to put that under, technically she's listed as science fiction but her stuff isn't based on the science and technology it's more about survival under dire circumstances. Her Patternist series would make a nice long multi-saga.

i would cast the 40 y/o virgin dude as 'the ordinary man' and i would find some like a denzel or jamie foxx to play memnoch (built well and not too old), whoever i got for any part (lastat, armond, claudia, etc.) would be truer to form and on contract for the long haul. the shooting would be not stop for a couple of years to keep the integrity of the ageless characters... i have dreams. i am KING BAD!!!

I've yet to read an Anne Rice book.
It's strange that in light of this recent fascination with vampires & stuff, they haven't made any other movies out of her books. By St. Boogar and all the saints at the backside door of Purgatory!

Well. You've really thought this out. With CGI I'm sure agelessness wouldn't be so much of a problem, but a couple of years, your production budget would be massive, Avatar would have nothin' on you.

i do believe the man said DEEP PPOCKETS my prollum would be gettin the actors to stick to the contract.
9 months on 3 off over a 5 year period with pay like an athlete (basketball) no outside jobs and a gag order, death stops all payments. strick diet clause and crimminal behavior penalties ($) i am KING BAD!!!

If your interested, start with Interview with the Vampire, it's easy reading and very good, her mind frame was different then. I understand another of her books is coming to film but not the vampire ones. I don't think the films do so well at the box office.

they don't stay close to the books they don't even try. I WOULD CURE THAT!!! i am KING BAD!!!

The only two that I'm aware of was "Interview" (which I thought had done well at box office) and that one with Rosie O'Donnell that was a complete waste of time.

You never saw the one with Aaliyah? EGADS! How could you?!
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Well in that case, a 5 year gig, you wouldn't have a hard time finding any crew, everybody'd be working and livin' good. Tyler Perry would have nothing on you.

I do recall when both movies came out...Rice made a big deal about Tom Cruise being cast (she hated it) but was happy with the Rosie O'Donnell mess.

Worth the drive? No. If your really bored, have a couple of hours to kill and you happen to be in Blockbuster anyway? Sure, if you're really curious. Outside of that, no, especially as someone who's never read the books, it wouldn't even begin to make an ounce of sense.

aliyah played the fuck outta that part and one would be hard pressed to find another as good i'm sure that she was QUEEN OF THE DAMNED for real thus her sudden disaperence but i would find somebody to do it. i would just have to find the right director like the one for BATMAN BEGINS or this new AVENGERS i am KING BAD!!!

I love a good kung fu movie and it's about time we had someone to be a new Jackie Chan or the next Jet Li.
Also, I'm kind of looking forward to see how The Hunger Games translates on to the big screen. When I first read those books, I immediately thought they had the potential to make a great movie.
