Dating a Preacher?

There's a preacher I know who is single with three kids that's trying to go out with me. He's 10 years older than me and seems to have a decent job. He seems pushy though....at one point he kept texting me asking me questions about what I did for a living and also asked me if I would give him my address. I didn't respond. Now, he's texting me saying he wants me to send him my resume because he'd like to hire me for some projects to work on....should I even bother? I really think I'm going to retire from the dating world completely!

What happened to mom?

and honestly speaking... that situation works best when the kids find you and love you first... then dad comes around to loving you.

Its a tough age group to introduce change to.... teenagers tend to be territorial and most kids fight change, its a tall order, not impossible, but extremely difficult. It would be expected for them to be resistant to the most nurturing woman... so, yeah... no.

Yeah I haven't asked about the kid's mom because I didn't want dude to think I was interested in him like that. He passed off as a bit pushy from the beginning and I dunno, my gut feeling tells me that he's very tempermental and demanding so I just don't wanna deal with it right now.

He also describes himself as a "5th generation preacher" so I guess there's a bit of arrogance in that too because so many black preachers (not all) think they are freakin' kings on Earth!

*sigh*

I also ran into Papi Chulo on the subway yesterday, well I saw him before he saw me and he looked awful. The rumors about him drinking and drugging himself...I see now are true because I saw him with beer and he's dropped a lot of weight suddenly. I first turned and walked away when I first saw him, but when I walked on the other side of the subway platform and saw him, my heart just broke. Dude is really having a rough time, I still pray for him because even though he's a d-bag, I think God still loves us all anyway....

Well yeah he is looking for a mother for his kids, but that's not really what I mean. If you know you're not ready for all that then don't do it, children need stability. Anyway, if you don't share the same belief system I don't see the point of hooking up with a preacher in the first place. One in training maybe but not someone fully settled with his own church and what not. I can see that person being a little impatient.

Yeah we have the same faith background but he seems to be a bit more "strict" on stuff than I am. Besides, if I messed around and got pregnant by this dude, then I'd be responsible for three kids, plus a baby AND a dude....ugh, why do I even bother

Sounds like you just need to keep that distant if he seems high maintenance.

You can always google him to see if she passed away. Obituaries are public.

Like screaming "Yes Lord" while I pound him from behind?

I'd date a preacher, just to turn him out. Oh my!

I like the "send him your resume" bit. That is too funny. Sucking his dick is not a special project.

Though...I do have some fancy wording that makes it pretty simple to add dick sucking to a resume

as a very important management skill... lol

Well, that's just not fair...

One of my good friends is a preacher, and he's a great guy. He's looking to date someone nice.

You either know the wrong ones, or are making a generalization about something you don't know about. neutral

@SeventeenDaze: Regardless of whether or not this guy is a preacher, he sounds a little "off".

I agree with the others... Avoid this one. disbelief

Haven't you started other threads about dating?

I thought I met some "winners". ohgoon

Well I wouldn't say he's being "strict" rather than being faithful to the Word of God, and he's likely looking for someone who has that same level of faith, tenacity & obedience to the Lord. Now about getting pregnant- why would you be trying to sleep with a pastor anyway? That's not the way it's supposed to work. faint

Will there at least be a car chase in this story, before you get into the discovery of weird sexual tension?

Well, I think he's getting the hint because he doesn't contact me as much as before, so that's a start smile I mean, I gave the dude a chance and then discovered that it's probably not a good thing to stay in touch. He emails me on occassion about working on projects together but I don't respond. I never really imagine myself dating let alone marrying a dude that had kids already, especially that young.

By "strict" I mean like, based on conversations with him he seems like the type who would take that verse about wives "submitting" to their husbands and run with it....Honey, why is my dinner cold? YOU MUST have hot dinner waiting for me every night, SUBMIT TO ME!!! Kinda like that I reckon he'd be like....
