Xmen : First Class

Best one of the bunch?

or . failed attempt. ?

I have mixed emotions on this movie .

Just saw it - yes I am alil late to the comic book party again ...

I generally liked it . However , one glaringly odd pick for an actor to play the Sebastian Shaw character ... Kevin Bacon ? In the marvel realm they have made some pretty cool choices (Iron Man , Spiderman being good ones) but ... to me ... K Bacon was just the wrong choice .

The other actors pulled it off well , with of course Magneto's character an A1 choice. Magneto has always been my fav character in the Marvel universe and it would have been nice seeing a more "white king" ending .... although I guess it was implied.

any opinions .... comments ....

Colonel Angus may be smelly. colonel angus may be a little rough . but deep down ... Colonel angus is very sweet.

i liked it. it sure as hell was better than xmen 3 and the GODAWFUL wolverine movie. still not as agood as xmen 2, but...

good start on par with first xmen movie. it is similuarly a good introduction into the world and characters. very curious to see more of this series, as i think future iterations of will be better the same way x2 was better than xmen

Fassbender was awesome. Aside from that, this wasn't my favorite X project.

I didn't like most of the castings, didn't like the patchwork selection of mutants from vastly different eras in the books' story arc, and didn't like the dumbed-down characterizations: If you're actually gonna globetrot, why make an Irish Banshee, a Scottish Moira MacTaggert, a German Magneto and an African Darwin all seem like they came from Indiana? shrug

But as a jump-off point, I did find the flick offered a much better backstory and set up for future stories than X1. Will be interesting to see where they go next, though getting Fassbender and McAvoy back for another film will be a longshot, I'd guess.

- the way these movies seem to work , they always sign them up for 3 , it seems ...

-i did think alot of the charactors seemed "wimpy" ... but hey , that is always the case when you like certain charactors better and well... Emma Frost getting caught seemed alil odd ....

Loved it, but I really think mostly because of Fessbender. He carries the movie.

I would have liked it a lot more if the entire movie was just Magneto and Xavier. They were very good, but the students annoyed me. And the effects used to depict the kids' powers looked hokey. I think I first gave it a 7/10 after seeing it, but now I'm downgrading it to 6/10--slightly above X3.

X2: X-Men United - 8/10

X-Men - 7/10

X-Men: First Class - 6/10

X-Men 3: The Last Stand - 5/10

X-Men Origins: Wolverine - 3/10
