Maybe it's just me and the places I go on the internet, but it seems as though everyone is talking about this very cute and endearing pic. We might as well be, too.

I expect the picture above will eventually become as iconic as the picture below:

It's a big deal for all the wrong reasons - homophobia is still a main problem in this country but me personally I think it's cool how we're progressed. True we got a long way to go but still, I just think this picture is cute.

It is cute, but it's also a big deal that this guy is a Marine and very, very recently would have been discharged for this pic. This innocent, lovely expression of love would have ended his military career, like, two minutes ago. But not now. So that's pretty cool.

That's true and I'm glad they can no longer be discharged for a picture like this but I've always thought it looked trashy when straight couples kiss in public let alone gay couples.

They can save the kiss for private. I'd rather watch them suck each other's dicks. lol

It's a curious juxtaposition. And it'll be interesting to see what place the newer photo takes relative to the older in the collective warm cockles of America. (Far more interesting than the photos themselves, IMHO bored ) The subjects in the new photo are actually a committed couple, whereas the subjects in the older photo apparently were total strangers both before and after the photo. I think these shots say, among other things, something interesting about our views of acceptable, sanctioned manhood -- and the reaction to them may say even more.

yeahthat

I've always felt the same about straight couples kissing in public like that, it always felt like a performance to me. But perhaps I've always felt that way because it had been frowned upon when gay couples did the same thing. I can understand couples of any persuasion being happy to see each other, and a little kiss and hug is fine, but some couples (...gay & straight) just take it a bit too far, IMHO.

Nevertheless, I'm happy that gays in the military now have the right to be just as tacky as their heterosexual counterparts.

EXCELLENT point, I thought about the exact same thing. The gay couple were at least in love with each other, the sailor in the vintage photo just grabbed some chick he saw on the street and laid one on her - and the world celebrated it.

It's definitely an act. They do it because they think it's cute and want other people to think they're big shit. It's kinda like saying...."Look what I got". I've seen straight couples fight like cats and dogs in private but when they get in public, they'll kiss so hard you wonder if they're going to start fucking right there in public in front of everyone. lol

And then there are the redneck bitches riding with their man in a pickup truck. Those bitches will sit all up next to his ass in the truck while he's driving and the entire passenger seat looks like it's empty. Trash....just pure trash! lol

Yeah I read the famous male and female soldiers kissing was randomly picked. It's cuter when it's an actual couple kissing though as it appears with the two dudes. smile

It won't. For the right reasons.

It's a soldier coming home, not a war ending.
