I saw it and I must say it was pretty good. A bit cliche and a bit predictable, but good script, good acting (esp. Thandie Newton) and heart-warming. I think this is Tyler's best yet. (Disclaimer: I didn't see For Colored Girls or I Can Do Bad All By Myself).

The story line may have been predictable, I thought I was still good.

I've seen I can Do Bad All By Myself. It's not bad either but compared to this I'd give it 3.5/5. Good Deeds is probably on of Perry's better works for sure.

No director has ever done what he has done. Turns every play he has made into movies. Plus writes,directs,acts & employs almost every black actor in the Hollywood. Not to mention the millions he has made Liongate. Which made it possible for the beautiful Janet Jackson's new deal there.Genius!

my wife dragged me to this movie today...and I enjoyed it immensely!! Unlike some of his other movies that have some ridiculous cartoonish characters and situations, this one was more mature, touching and funny...

No doubt this movie will be a hit within the black community. It looks predictable as hell..

I'm waiting for 'The Marriage Counselor' to come out.

I caught a matinee of it this weekend. My thoughts:

• The plotline/script was predictable, but it's nice to see Tyler Perry grow as a screenwriter.
• Tyler had better on-screen chemistry with Gabrielle Union than Thandie Newton. Maybe Thandie & Gabrielle should've swapped roles.
• Thandie Newton's American accent was a shaky at times.
• The adorable little girl who played Thandie's daughter did a great job.
• It was great to see Phylicia Rashad on the big screen, just wished she had more lines.

You're SO lucky. On Saturday I went to see "Gone" with a friend and these loud ass black kids were sitting right next to us. They talked through the whole fucking movie. I've never fought the impulse to slap the shit out of somebody so hard in my life. I don't understand what's so hard about not fucking talking for two hours. It's called common courtesy. Little bastards.

Dang! People can be so inconsiderate. The crowd in the theater with me were mostly older, and many from church groups. There were a lot of church vans in the parking lot that afternoon.

Everyone's reviews are making me want to take a chance on him again. In the past, every time I went to the movies and spent money watching his films, I always walked away kicking myself for not waiting until it was on Redbox.

Yes he did and had the nerve to use George Lucas's film Red Tails to support his argument. George Lucas reportedly had issue getting support for the film which is hard to believe given that he is....George Lucas.
