What are some of the BEST and WORST sci-fi villains?

What do you consider to be some of the BEST and the WORST (as in lame) villains in science fiction?

I'll give some examples of excellent villains;

rolleyes ...as IF it needed to be said.

RESISTANCE IS FUTILE.

The Borg were badass early on.

Baron Harkonnen from DUNE.
Evil...even in death...the books really show his nastiness.

ALIEN.

'nuff said.

...and some of the lame ones...

yawn ...a letdown almost as epic as the movie itself.

...any alien that gets knocked out by one punch from Will Smith is a pussy...

OK...I know it's a campy film...but come on! You're an advanced planet-invading civilization and can't keep your heads from exploding?

Dude honestly, I haven't read any of the subsequent books or graphic novels that detail his character. I'm basing it strictly on Episode I.

fart

Exactly. Blame George for wasting such a dope character.

I love that movie lol

Okay, as a recent convert of the whole SG series...and despite it's overall campiness...

The Wraith

In passing I thought these were the silliest creatures ever but then getting to know the series and what they were they creep me out now. I still eat meat though but I got the point.

The Ori Priors

Even being religious, these guys make me nervous has heck.

I'm having a problem replying dirctly to ur post Morningsong (damned iPod!) but I wanted to say that I'm a huge fan of the original Stargate movie, and watched the original TV series religiously. I fell off the wagon around the time Stargate Atlantis jumped in the mix.

But in the origin movie, that Rah character was good.

I got hooked into all of it, SG-1, Atlantis and Universe, now the franchise is gone forever. I remember Rah from years ago, I went to see it when it first came out, it's been a long time since I seen the original movie. But speaking of the Gould...

Baal.JPG

Ba'al is just the embodiment of sexiness. But what he did to O'Neil was evil as heck. The Gould where more entertaining and stylish to me but yeah they were evil.

They were these whale like creatures that were part of the Xindi in Star Trek: Enterprise. the picture i was looking for, this is the closet I could find, was a whale species that had basically created the technology of space flight without fingers, thumbs or anything that could be used to grasp objects. It was just so ridiculous. They had this scene with the Xindi alliance and had these huge water tanks that the whales was swimming in as the conference was going on. SMH

Gary Oldman in "The Fifth Element" was terrible...I don't even remember his name.

Loved the movie and practically everything else Oldman has done, but that one... disbelief

I can't think of the worst, maybe Ming the Merciless from Flash Gordon:

Too bad, you didn't include Fantasy films, I would have included Tim Curry's brilliant potrayal of the Lord of Darkness in Legend:

Tim Curry is awesome.

Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!
