Don't really like Lamborghini, Ferrari or Corvettes, I somehow always associate them with pimps, rather than with stylish gentlemen, who just happen to have a really cool, stylish and not too attention-seeking car. Plus, less is often more when it comes to sports cars, in my opinion.
It's funny, because I started my post by saying that I had "simple taste". I don't think Vettes are that flashy, compared to other sports cars.
Also, I am a very stylish LADY, and I'm sure that owning one would not diminish that.
Corvettes are flashy in their own way. They are the typical American sports cars and have something very wide and pompous about them. Dunno, I just never really clicked with them.
And of course owning one would never diminish that. I never said all people owning that car are not stylish or anything. I just gave the reason for my not dreaming of a Corvette! |

It's interesting how many Americans associate BMW with sport! In Europe (especially Austria and Germany, which are full of them), they are simply luxurious and safe cars (some of them are quick, of course), but not really "sports cars". |

The Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione is one of the most beautiful cars ever made. Definitely up there for me, too.
Lotus Elise, ditto.
But I also like a bit of comfort, so I'd go for an Aston Martin DB9, or the Rapide.

Well, "racing cars" are cars that drive races (and most of the time aren't even allowed to be driven on the street), that's almost for sure.
Sports Cars, to me, would be cars which have their engine (quickness, weight etc) and style (especially when it is build to be very streamlined) put at the center of their marketing measures and above safety, luxury, energy-efficiency etc.
BMW's central theme definitely isn't pace and engine, but rather luxury and safety. That's probably why I (and other fellow middle-Europeans) don't necessarily associate BMW with sports cars, even though some of them are quicker than average cars.

Cool...but I see it as a bit "feminine".
The same with the Audi TT. I liked them, but saw them as "feminine" (just like the "round" VW Beetle). By St. Boogar and all the saints at the backside door of Purgatory! |

The VW Touareg is fast & stylish, but not a sports car.
Yeah, that chimes in with the weight, useful and handy aspect. Sports-cars usually have to weigh little (that's why they're usually smaller in size) and do not appeal to people who are looking for useful and handy cars. |

Basically if you can use it to ferry your kids to soccer practice, it's not a sports car.
